I have just made my first auto blog. Is it legal? What are the risks and penalties?

Yes they are legal as long as you have the rights to show the content on your site.

Just because google doesnt like something doesnt make it illegal.

Please correct me if i am wrong from what i have said. But i do not think its illegal to run an autoblog

is totally legal buddy, no problem. you can also try to make your blog look like a normal blog too if you know what i meant. ;)

WP Robot is legal? Do I need to make any modification to make it legal?

It is legal to run an autoblog, and Google doesn't mind them as long as they contain decent content. You must be careful whether you are permitted to use he content, and under what terms. For example Google news will allow you to use their content as long as it is for a non commercial site.

I'm not sure you want to accept legal advice from a group of anonymous Blackhatters :D.
I can see it now: "but judge, the people on BHW said Autoblogs were ok!"

That being said, I have 40 ABs up and running.

AutoBlogging software is as legal as P2P software...in other words, completely and totally legal. Where the illegality of it comes in, is with it's use.

Use P2P software to download copyrighted content, and you're breaking the law. Use it to download a movie your sister made on her camera that she wants to share with people across the globe...perfectly legal.

Use autoblog software that is only grabbing content that is legal to re-print elsewhere, perfectly legal. Use autoblog software that is grabbing content that is copyrighted and not legal for re-print/re-distrubition elsewhere...illegal.

In other words, autoblog software is inherently legal in and of itself. The legality of it comes in with it's use (and even then, it isn't the software that broke the law, it is the user).

How about the content we put guys?? Finding a feed, spin and no problem with the author of the text?

Well, i think WP Robot is legal since the only thing it does is pulling products off eBay and Amazon. However, if you use other autoblogging plugins that pull content from famous blogs and your blog starts getting traffic or monetized, this might upset the owners of these blogs, and if that happens they can file a C&D (Cease and Desist).
I have many autoblog, but not facing any troubles up until now.

Good luck anywas!

Well, WP Robot asked for keywords, I put them in and hit ok. Is that legal or not?

Yeah, yeah! I use it and it's perfectly legal. It won't do anything besides pulling content from Amazon & eBay. Go for it!

Really?! These HUGE articles are from amazon and ebay?

And amazon and eBay allowed this?

They are not articles -.- They are products associated with your Affiliate ID

Wanna check my blog, send me a PM

Can someone PM me, I will give my blog url and they can check legal or not. Please, no unreputated people (under 100 posts).

In most cases, yes it is legal, it depends to the content and the way you make it.. you can have a legal and white hat autoblog.. or you can go the black hat way.. .

It's not illegal or something against google to have an automatic website! it's all about the auto-generated content.. .

@macdonjo3, I'm not a lawyer lol but you can PM me the url I will check it and give you my opinion.

As just about everyone on this forum, I'm no lawyer, but just as others have said, legality is most likely dependent on how you use your autoblog.
