Guys, Was wondering if auto-blogs still work or Google indexes them badly or bans them from search.

Need views....

Thanks

It really depends, if you are using autoblogs that are packaging content in a useful way for the user and is centered around a well defined niche, Big G still does fine for autoblogs. On the other hand if you're just trying to create an all in one autoblog website that picks up all kinds of only slightly related stuff, then G will rank it poorly.

So its better off to manage your 5 auto blog than 100 spam blogs,no?

the main thing is that you need to make them look legit with a nice theme, logo, images etc. believe it or not this can make or break you.

I still use auto blogs, and i seen an increase in traffic after the Panda update

My autoblogs keep chugging along too. Spread out your content sources, do mashups, add some generated content, use good spinning / translation, make your sites look pretty and professional... The death of autoblogs is highly exaggerated.

I HIGHLY agree with you here :D

Same is my view on it.

What software are you guys using? I have just bought wp-robot and wordpress magic. The set up looks like a nightmare. How long do they normally take to set-up? Are you guys still pulling content from article directories or staying well away?

In my case this was very wrong. My site was ranking VERY well for over 1k organic keywords and getting over 2k visitors a day for a site that was a little over 2 months old (i think that rose the red flags for google). Then i got the entire site DEINDEXED like an idiot. I really shouldnt have of been auto posting so many articles a day. Had something like 28k indexed pages. If you look through some of my threads you'll see some evidence of what Im talking about here.

After Panda my sites are doing better also, but I also have very focused sites around a few keywords, which is what I attributed the better rankings to.

I do have to agree with others that you need to make your site look "legit". Have an OK looking theme, not just adsense spam all over the place. All the normal stuff a business would have, contact info, terms of use, a nice banner stuff like that.

Also, as Darkone kinda notes, I personally make sure to take it slower on the post counts. I usually keep it down to 10-20 post a day max, (That's after I do an initial posting blast to get the site populated), but I have no evidence to back up that being actually helpful, it just works for me.

Blindboy, I hate to bounce you to another thread, but I discuss all of the plugins I use and why here: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/blogging/298889-plugins-i-use-more-importantly-why.html

And with the template I use it only takes about an hour max to set up an autoblog.

The really painstaking part for me is the keyword research, I have got to work on that a bunch more. Right now all of the things I have done have been simply me saying, "Hey I really like X, so other people must like that too!" and I build a site for it. With no idea on what products are available or what ads pay in that niche. Not a good way to run a viable business...

Just some thoughts.

We truly believe that there is a Hotel in Ibiza for everybody, families, young clubbers, business men, disabled people and even pets have the right to enjoy their holidays in Ibiza.

They work perfectly fine, no reason not too as long as you check the posts, which is fine in my book. That can even be outsourced if you want, someone to monitor a blogs posts on an autoblog and clean them up when need be or delete the useless ones.

Spreading out your content sources is key as mentioned above, since it it's easy to distinguish an autoblog that uses one or two content sources.

Honestly, I don't know why you limit the number to 5 though. You could easily manage a 100 autoblogs with a little outsourcing, since logging into accts every couple of days could be a pain.

I found my autoblogs doing better however I cant prove it but I think if someone reports you google seem to act upon it alot quicker than they used to. A couple of my autoblogs got removed recently and after that, I got an email from some random saying haha I reported you asshole. Oh well. Such is life.

LOL WTF!? I have seem some unusual spam in my days. But this spam takes the cake! Is this island doing so bad that you need to spam to get people to it? lol

I used to have an autoblog, and it did get just a little bit of traffic, but it's to my knowledge that you shouldn't ever use something like Google Analytics when building an autoblog, as it allegedly makes it easier for Google to crack down on you for autoblogging. Unfortunately, I didn't know that at the time of making it, so Google didn't de-index me, but they slapped me pretty hard.

Autoblogging almost seems like walking a thin wire, a science almost. It seems that some people around Black Hat World are finding success with hybrib autoblogs, which contain a mixture of unique content and content pulled from other sources.

Auto Blogs are king, I have a lot of auto blogs, all recieve a load of traffic (over 2k uv per day). Some peoples autoblogs suck because they dont understand how to get the most out of them. Play with auto blog building and tweak it till you get it right. A lot of it is down to the tools you use to build your blogs ;)
