Hi Guys,

I would just like to ask a question, i am going to set up a free arcade site. I would just like to ask do i need a dedicated server for this or can i just use the baby croc in hostgator?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Geoff

Read that Facebook guide, have ya?

Anyways, if I were you, I'd just go with the babycroc and see if I could actually get enough traffic. There are a TON of free gaming sites already and plenty of them don't catch on.

If you could incorporate some form of reward system for playing games, like kongregate does with their badge system, it would definitely help getting visitors to your site to come back for more.

If your getting enough traffic and people keep coming back, then a dedicated server would be the way to go.

Good luck!

lol thats right hevindester, nways thanks for the advise.

At least 1 dedicated server and when traffic grows you'll need to add more servers on diffrent IPs and locations.
I assume you'll use Flash/AS, multi-user and sockets connections technology.
You'd work on load balancing and band optimization.
I use Mediatemple as hosting and in the last months (traffic really up) I am getting a lot of problems with multi-user (I have 3d real-time). The initial costs are not less 300$/month.

thanks noph34r ill check out mediatemple

Let me know if you still searching for hosting.

Let you get test account before you paid

if you start eating bandwidth like theres no tomorrow, fdcservers.net, otherwise stick with any generic hosting since most of what you should be serving is static content
