Ok,

I am a webmaster at a company, my boss came to me and told me that we are looking to aquire a company that does quite a bit of business in our field.

This company has many online stores and websites as well as employees. I am trying to compile a list of things that I need to request/ask for as well as a list of possible concerns.

So far I have come up with the following:

-Complete domain list of any domains registered by the company as well as domains privately registered no matter the state of the domain (in use, parked, forwarded etc). Also, the account information for each.

-Login information for all social networking accounts associated with any of the entities.

-Hosting/FTP Information for all hosted websites listed above

Thats just off the top of my head...I seem to have a block today and could use some help.

One concern I have is sabotage from the inside...Any strategies on how to avoid any possible instances of this from happening?

Thanks in advance. This kind of got dropped in my lap so I am trying to run with it but I have never aquired anyone before in my time as a webmaster so this is all new territory for me.

How are you evaluating the acquiring cost, let me know the matrices and I can shed some light. I do flipping as one of my core businesses.

Well my boss is buying the entire company, I am just focusing in on the web portion. I am not touching the money aspect, I am looking at it more from a technology standpoint on what I need to get/collect from them when it all goes down and we own the company.

BHW is not the right place for a question like this. You need a business broker to do it properly.

It really depends what is agreed in the contract. Don't forget things like content, articles, source code, images etc.

I am not trying to talk about the actual aquiring...I am refering to me as the IT person and what I need to ask for from a technology property standpoint.

Well the broker would ensure that all assets (digital or not) are transferred. They would also help define what is and is not included contractually.

Find a lawyer who works with business brokers, or who specializes in small bsiness sales and purchases.
