Appuim: Going to Learn Appuim (Python)... Do I need a device?

Im going to teach myself Appuim but my question is, Do I need a device to learn as I go along or can I use an emulator? Also if anyone has any good tutorial recommendations please let me know via YouTube, Udemy etc.

you can use it on emulator no need for real devices, for source codes and more try to search github
