Can anyone recommend a good (hopefully free but not required) appointment/scheduling program?

I want to be able to set blocks of time as certain activities. Like every Monday-Wednesday from 3-5pm I do whatever and it automatically fills in that block of time for the entire year, etc. In addition to that I want to be able to set certain dates like birthdays, appointments, etc. So.. like I said, appointments AND long term schedule creation.

Google Calendar can do everything you just asked for.

Set events to repeat daily, on weekdays (Mon - Fri), Mon/Wed/Fri, Tues/Thurs, weekly, monthly, or yearly.

I've used it for years and LOVE it. And, of course, there are phone apps for it as well.

I'd like to avoid anything that is online. I want a local copy that I can backup, etc. Not to mention I'm trying to move away from using ANYTHING Google offers period. Thanks for the advice though.

That one's pretty good for what you're asking.

No it's not. He want's something that he can add birthday/anniv/etc dates to, not something made for daily time management.
