Hey guys, I am confused between MacBook pro and Asus ROG strix G
Which laptop should I buy? I am almost about to buy the Asus ROG but should I skip it and go for MacBook? What are your thoughts? How is Asus in terms of reliability?

I am a fan of Windows, I have an msi myself and would never switch to apple.

That depends on what you like I guess

Windows is not really a problem since you can install the windows on your MacBook.
I am getting the 17.3 inch version of Asus ROG but it's battery life will be very shitty

When you compare hardware to hardware - Mac looses.

If you want fancy PC with nice logo - go for MAC. If you want usability, performance and best deal per buck - go for windows based solution.

Btw I dont get why people buy laptops. Its not ergonomic way to work. Your hands and spine will suffer after few years of working on lap.

For price of mac you can get standard PC + good chair + medium specs laptop when you really cant work in your place. Nothing can beat good chair + ergonomic keyboard + 32 inch screen + secondary screen.

Thanks for your input.
You Can't take your PC to college or even around in the house. I want to use my laptop on my bed, in my car I can. You can't do that with a dekstop tho

Mac.

No matter how good is the Windows computer (it can't be good imho) none if the Windows machines lasted to me more than a couple of years and they were literally dying. I had 3 Macs, each lasted over 4 years (one is 7), and they still work really well. I can't say the same about any windows/android device. Even Windows work better on Mac (for me).

Mac is more expensive so you would hear a lot of negatives related to that, but it worth every penny.

And why is it so? Because the hardware they are using is actually bought from other companies. I have a Dell and it's working good since 10 years but it's slow as tortoise

Lenovo X1

Best ultrabook for the money. Good keyboard, decent specs good reliability. If you are looking for graphics and power, then I guess the ROG laptop would give you the best performance.

Personally I prefer windows; much more compatible, much more flexible and also easier to get support when needed.

The Asus ROG in my opinion is the bang for buck. I5 9th gen with Nvidia 1650 and a 17.3 Inch display is what attracting me.

Yeah the only thing I am attracted to is the battery life, weight and looks of that MacBook pro. Damn I have never seen a more sleek and beautiful laptop than that.

I have windows based lap that's 10 years old and still running :) Anyway windows cant be good, what about thousands servers that run windows based OS, also not good?

Mac have HQ hardware - that's true, you can buy shitty hardware for quarter price of mac and get shitty PC. You can also buy good quality hardware for half price of mac. Mac is no magic really - mobo, cpu, psu, ram etc. Its high quality, but for half or little more than half price you can get similar hardware quality.

check out HP elite book they’re pretty sleek as well. Or Thinkpad X1 carbon.

Macs do look good but. Meh. I guess they’re like marmite; you either love em or you hate em.

true. Macs are very high quality but only because they are top of the range, there is no budget Mac like there is with windows computers.

mid you buy a windows laptop using the same budget as you’d need for a Mac then you’ll also get great quality and performance.

For some reason, I always read this B*S* every time I see people arguing about their faulty windows machines...

I bought my Windows PC in November 2009. And I'm currently writing this text over it.

Obviously, if you buy a CHUWI Ultrabook, don't expect great performance for the next 6 years...

If you want a reliable notebook for working go with a DELL Vostro or Latitude not ASUS ROG. ASUS ROG is for gaming: Big bulky graphic specs with a big refrigeration system that may become faulty at some point.

(Also I'm becoming a big fan of EOL renting sites, big in specs corporate laptops for $300 like HP Elitebooks and Thinkpads)

yeah but they are pretty thick and heavy no?

I used to have a 15" lenovo y series gaming laptop with dual graphics cards (SLI) and its has such a drag to lug around and use as a portable laptop. Was more like a desktop replacement, and for a while I had it docked and used as a desktop with monitors.

Then I got a t420 and my productivity was better. Small simple laptop that is intuitive to use. If you are going to be doing a lot of typing, you have to think about the keyboard a lot. I find a sweet spot for keyboards is for laptops in the 12" range like the x220 lenovo. But to each his own.

Lol I don't think so the cooling system will become faulty, any other reasons why I should not go for the Asus ROG?
