Apple Mac Pro Fans?

I was just looking over the new Mac Pro specs and I'm shaking my head a little. For a $2,999 the base model Mac Pro gets you a quad-core 3.7GHz Intel Xeon processor, 12GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, and AMD D300 FirePro graphics. Two points of commonality with current-gen consumer Mac systems are the faster PCIe style SSD storage, and a Wi-Fi antenna using the latest 802.11ac standard. In addition there are six Thunderbolt 2 ports that can power up to three simultaneous 4K displays, including one from a built-in HDMI output.

What's weird is that this powerful machine looks like a small waste paper basket next to the monitor:

My concerns are, besides cost which always prices me out of the Mac market, is the lack of user upgrade options and all of that computer circuitry running in such a small container. Frankly, there isn't a Mac desktop for the enthusiast or hobbyist since these new machines are targeted for professionals. There is the cool factor in the shape but really for graphic and video editors is that more important than upgradeability and longevity? Apple lost me with this one much the same way Microsoft lost me with Windows 8.

i hate mac, i alwasy hated mac, and i always will! For that price you have 2 windows machines with the same specs!
 
i am fucking excited,i love apple products because they just really works ,they always perform the best ,i have an iphone 5s which is the best phone on the planet i have an ipad mini (old but still strong comparing with every new shit that appears everyday) ,next will be a mack book pro,anyway i wish i could have all theirs products.they are the best even there are many haters.#1 brand in the world is saying everything about them.i agree with the Luscious84 you can buy 2 shitty windows machine with those money,they will stop working after 12 months and your windows get more fucked with every update,every single windows update make my laptop slower and slower that's why i reinstalled windows and i will never do any single update.their products just work great because they are just fking well optimized.

i am the biggest apple FAN even i can't afford their top products at this moment ,but for sure an 4000$ mac book pro will come in my hands early next year.anyway you just can't go wrong with a MAC
 
I guess I'm the only one who gets shitty Window machines to last 14 years (re-purposed as a Ubuntu box), LOL!

I'm not here to flame the fan boy wars but are there any Mac Pro owners caring to weigh in on the new design?
 
Apple is always over priced. Most of the case they provided the best quality product. For $2,999 you can get a better desktop. There is no necessity to spend $2,999 for a desktop. Xeon processor was build for server hope you will not gonna make your desktop a server. But Macbook is the best as a laptop.

That you will. But you'll also have a resource-hogging OS. OS X and its apps use FAR less resources so you can get more out of your hardware. I'm able to edit 1080p-quality video on my 15" MBP smoothly. Something that took a custom built desktop running dual SLI when I was still using PC.
 
I've had a few MacBooks in my time and I hated spending the money on them because I "could have bought a windows machine for much cheaper". I don't know how many times I have heard that argument. Each of those machine gave me at least 6 years of use without upgrade. Any windows machine I have owned lasted maybe 2 years before a major update was needed. I end up spending more on those damn windows machines than I did on my macs.

i love the interface, I love how it just works. No need to fuck with anything to get things to play nice with it. Anything that says its Mac compatible doesn't require you to find drivers on your own or anything stupid like that. The machines look cool, they work, and they last a long time. It's an investment for sure, but I haven't regretted any Mac purchase yet, can't say the same about windows.

the biggest issue for me lately has been running IM tools natively on Mac. Nothing a virtual machine or a cheap VPS can't handle though.

I have a Mac Pro. The new one looks dumb.

I don't like that they're forcing Thunderbolt on users.
 
I'm a fan of apple product, but I still prefer to use windows though.
 
I always love Apple mac due to its heart touching designs and factors.
I like Apple mac pro and I have tried it.
 
Former pcmasterracefag and apple hater here - I agree apple products are overpriced but the day I got my macbook pro retina im not looking back to windows. os x is an amazing os and the macbook retina is really well built.
 
Just bought my wife a MacBook Pro. Ultra retarded heap of shit. My HP laptop has better spec and was 60% cheaper. But it looks shit. But I don't care.
 
IMHO, it's overpriced. you overpay for the priviledge of having Mac.

Try do do any Word or Doc advanced operations, it sucks. SO it's useless for business.

For developement, it's not as good as windows. the only plus it has build it shell, but you can get it on free ubuntu :)

Perhaps, others love it
 
This toy can't compare to DELL XPS 15 InfinityEdge. It's like Mercedes AMG in the world of laptops!
 
You can buy barebones window machines x3 with more
ram and more ssd easly

unfortunetly i hate mac , there price just stupid for what you get
with a windows machine .... Osx terrible os

The only reason mac are fast they double there ram to fill fast but deep down
windows out preform them any day...

always remember mac you need a special engeneer from them self stupid i no.

but windows fully home diy fun...

If you have the money to own a Mac, go for it! I have a MacBook Pro, just upgraded it to 16GB RAM and it rocks!
 
I have had my Mac Pro now for 3 years and its been cranking along. Just love it. Hardly puts out any heat.
