Anyone who drinks smoothies should read this.
When I was young and dumb I had an awful experience eating seeds when I was drunk (Hawaiian Baby Woodrose).
I don't remember how many I ate I just remember experiencing pain of the magnitude of eating a barrel of broken glass. Vomiting, shaking, sweating, dry heaving, hallucinating... going into a full blown LSA trip.... wanting to call 911 but being too fucked up to do so. And finally feeling sick as hell the following day. One of the worst experiences of my life.
Now check this. I drink a lot of smoothies these days. And for some reason I noticed when I drink a big glass, my stomach feels like theres needles inside. It hurts like hell. It lasts like 4-6 hours. I'll bend over on a chair holding my stomach then try to ignore it. I'll twitch my abs and clench my gut. It just lingers and lingers.
I always assumed it was the carrots causing this pain. As I just assumed raw carrots are hard to digest, you drink too many, it causes pain.
Then thanksgiving happened. I ate well cooked turkey with my family. Was fine the whole day. No problems.
I get home, wanna make a smoothy and am out of carrots. The store was closed. I think "no big deal". I got lots of apples, broccoli, celery and bananas.
Now I'm a lazy bastard. So I make my smoothies with a french fry chopper. It's fast. I just break off stems, celery leafs, instachop then blend. I don't core the apples cause the end result never tastes different.
Anyway, since there was no carrots I figured "I'll down a lot". I probably drank a bit less than a liter. Within 30 minutes I felt that horrendous feeling coming on. I was confused as hell. After an hour it was so intense I went to lay in my bed. I just laid in agony all night and couldn't sleep at all.
I wind up on Google with a blank screen just thinking. Then remember my experience long ago eating those seeds. I remember it had something to do with cyanide. So I type in "cyanide" and casually start reading.
A few minutes later I discovered the most interest fact of my life.
If you eat apple seeds, your stomach won't digest them. So they just pass through your system. But if you CHEW or somehow BREAK those seeds, they contain a compound called Amygdalin.... which converts to cyanide in your stomach. It's the same shit in Woodrose seeds. Even MORE INTERESTING, if you cut the core out of 20 apples, then blend them, and drink that mixture, you can KILL YOURSELF from cyanide poisoning!

Apricot and peach seeds can also kill you. Although you'd have to be an idiot to try chewing / blending those.
