I don't post my own threads on here as much as I should, but something I read this morning on my phone piqued my interest. John Mueller over at Google has went on the record saying that as part of their algo, bad grammar won't result in a site being kicked down in the SERPs. This is something similar to what Cutts had rambled on about a while ago. For those interested, the information can be found here https://www.seroundtable.com/google-grammar-seo-24571.html
This isn't something revelutionary, just like we all know that buying rubbish links and keyword stuffing will get you slapped big time.
However, I don't truly agree that poor grammar will not impact your position in Google. Whilst Google might say that it's not part of the algo, it in a way is.
Supposing you're building a nice site but you're lacking a bit when it comes to writing content. There's plenty of services here on BHW that you can choose from that all have varying price points. Supposing you go to the cheaper end of the spectrum and you get, well, shit basically. Everything should be fine since Google doesn't care about spelling or grammar, right?
Wrong. Whilst they're saying that they won't slap you with a penalty in the same way they would with spammy links, having poorly written content can be just as detrimental to your site.
As an example let's look at this before and after example from
@Sherbert Hoover
This was in response to someone on here that had purchased a mediocre content package.
If I stumbled across a site that had content akin to the 'Before' then I'd jump back out of it pretty quickly and I'm sure that I wouldn't be the only one doing it. This in turn is going to bump up your bounce rate which has is correlated to how well a site ranks. Whilst you might have the best links you can get, if the bounce rate is utter trash thanks to the content then you're throwing money away.
Not only is it potential sales that you're loosing, but you're also wasting the links that you've bought or are renting. You're putting a wall in front of the links that are stopping them from hitting their potential. Granted the grammar isn't the only type of on site work you need to be concerned with (site speed is also an issue), but it makes sense to get this nailed down as soon as possible.
Which brings me to the next part; don't buy shit from the Marketplace. There are a lot of great content writers on here but there's also a lot of terrible services. The problem is a lot of these poor services will have umpteen pages of great reviews because they're so cheap. If you're wondering how you can work out which cheap services are terrible, look at the original post from the OP. If it's littered with mistakes then steer clear of that service.
Think of it this way; if you're promoting a service based on content creation and the introduction is severely off then how can you carry out a quality service? The long and the short of it is that you can't. Similarly you should take a look at how the sellers respond to buyers in terms of spelling and grammar. Again, this should be perfect and not something sloppily put together.
In all honesty you're better off keeping your money rather than throwing it away on a pointless service. You'd be better off writing the content yourself and perfecting it until you're happy to upload it, or save the money and spend it on high quality content.

BEFORE

This Porter-Cable framing nailer is known for its superior functionality, ergonomic design and high-quality material. Whether the task is of hanging a photo frame or building a new deck, this nailer drives the nail deeply without even using a hammer. Isn’t that great?
AFTER
Construction and renovation projects require toolbelts full of high-powered machinery to complete in an effective manner. Older hand tools have long since been replaced with faster, more robust alternatives. The hammer is no exception. Enter the Porter Cable framing nailer, known for superior functionality, high-quality composition, and ergonomic design. Whether hanging a photo frame or building a deck, this framing nailer will get the job done harder, better, faster, and stronger than the old-school alternative.
