Great Thread, thank you OP, big time!

One Question: i keep reading "i have to buy a mac to develop/release for iphone", cant we just setup a virtual machine with OSx since its basically the exact same in fullscreen mode?

Yes, virtual machine is fine for testing. No need to buy mac..

Awesome man you just shared what i'm working on these days , Great stuff will come handy :) Thanks BB

Hey Big Buddy, thanks for the great info. Are educational games still the way to go? Would you be interested in creating a monetized app for me and at what price? If so, shoot me a message. I'm not sure I can send a message due to having less than 15 posts.

When I saw this thread. I decided to focus on mobile games, apps. in 3 weeks period now I am earning 5$ daily with 1 game. I just want to say thank you bro. I need advice from you for how you promote apps. I only buy installs and reviews.

Since 12 may apple start a huge change that would be a game changer in reskin world, everybody is freaking out lol...
- The Casino section just disappeared in the US appstore (I think the other stores would follow soon)
- No more free trafic for new games, as they no longer show the page of new release Free/Paid apps in the US appstore, instead we find best new games/Best new updates, showing few games lol...

I think a lot of reskinner specially those just starting would have a rough time... I released like 15 apps this month and trafic is almost dead from the US... 10% what I used to get if not lower lol.
What do you guys think about that? Big Buddy did you see any impact on your apps?

I agree with this. I have been in the app game since 2010 and Apple has continued to make it harder and harder for smaller developers to make money. I think that the reskinnig is an interested method because many people are making businesses where they just make the code and wholesale it out for others to reskin. So the purchasing of source code is cheaper but graphics have always been expensive in their ownright. That being said, it's easier now for a multitude of people to bullrush into the marketplace because source code and cheaper/more freely accessible.

I think it's wrong to say only the best apps make it. That's not true. There are some really great apps that are never seen and that is because of so many factors but getting exposure is harder now than ever in the App Store. It's easier to get downloads on Android but it's much less profitable. I am really hoping that Apple finds ways of increasing awareness/discovery about apps but I think an underlying problem is also in mobile ads. A lot could change if they made more revenue for developers and there were more creative means of advertising.

This is an awesome thread. Thanks for sharing your methods. have a few questions though.

I have flow free like source code, I've also modified it to made the game play unique, I've made it easier to reskin but I don't know how to find people want to buy it. Does anyone has suggestions ?

awesome thread as usual BB however, i feel rather than hiring coders, people with low budget should always start with partnering with experienced coder (if they aren't coder themselves). if their budget is limited, they should use that money for design instead because design (for some game niches) is very important to distinct ourselves from sea of games in google play/apple store. hiring coders if we are just starting would overkill our budget especially if our game is a bit complicated.

Its very useful thread mate.great info..
Thanks for the share.

Quick question which I haven't seen answered after reading through every reply (maybe I missed it)...

When you reskin an app and release it, are you pushing it to the iOS app store and the google play store and promoting both 50/50? Or are you releasing on iOS then moving to google play (or vice versa)? Is the launch process the same with a unique game as well?

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Edit: Just want to clarify that the app that's being built now is in Unity3D so it can be exported to android and iOS without needing to code two separate apps.

Would love to hear regarding this too. I am almost done with reskinning of the app, just waiting to publish it on google play store.
