This link was sent to me by a friend and wow it's very inspiring. I am an indie game developer that has 4 apps out now for android and ios. They have not made any money at all, they are not clones of any other games just my creation. My most successful game has over 10k installs but again nothing being made.

I think i will just stop creating games and focus on reskins.

Thank you for providing us with some hope.

Hi BB
Finally i jumped in, I'm starting to find a Game apps on chumpa.
I don't know coding, i going to hire on odesk, but can i use Reskin service from Chumpa ?
Where is cheaper ?

Depend on the app so reskin fee is difference, but average how much you spend for Re-skin service ?
Sorry to bother you, Could you please PM your Skype ?

Thanks

I'm also an Android Developer, but I'm making money from the games I make. Can you share your games here, and we can see whats your problem?

I have some decent ideas for mobile games but have zero coding knowledge. If ideas were sellable, I could make a decent living LOL!

As an android developer, I love how people always told me that have ideas for apps, that they could gave me the ideas and split the earnings...
hahha, I'm an coder, and I have ideas, but i dont have money. You can not develope everything, and other things are already in the store.

Great thread with some really good tips from BigBuddy, lookzor and others. Thanks guys

BB thank you so much for taking the time to put together this post. I'm a new member on BHW, just looking to get started in apps. You wrote this about 4 months ago, and things move fast in this space. My question is: is this a good time to JUST BE GETTING STARTED in reskinning? How have you seen things progress since you started, and since you originally published this post?

I've been failing at business for years now (learning, then a partnership that ended badly) and I'm running out of options, but I'm really passionate about mobile and about apps. In your opinion, will this be viable for say 1-2 more years at least? I've been hearing some industry people say "No sir".

I know you can't predict what Apple will do in the future, but you've seen what they've done since you started.

Thanks for any insight!

Reskinning only wont be the solution for apps business, but adding your twist or some features from the old app works. Further, focusing in aso, buying reviews etc etc., will work. I suggest anyone to take this app business as a long term income and not as a get rich quick business. Once you have good number of apps (20 - 30) in your portfolio, you can see it brings you automated $$$ - $$$$ per day.

So plan accodingly and invest wisely.

Hello I have got a question about promoting my app(a game). I am trying to use Apples' iAD service, but I do not know if it is better to have the targeting option on auto or manual(to only advertise on games). The first day I had it on auto and I achieved a total of ~200 taps(clicks), but my daily budget ran out in 6 hours. The second day I ran it on manual targeting(specifically promoting on games) and I got around 150 taps but also used half of my daily budget. I want to know which option is better auto or manual? Thank you for your time.

Awesome post! really!

I have a few apps online, im checking their stats daily on sensortower, some of them have lost positions in the rankings, they have a few months old, maybe 3, how will you approach them?

i was thinking as you adivce, to start buying Fb installs, and do a little bit of reviews/ratings in microworkers, what is the ratio, 100 installs / 5 reviews, you say?

Also, there is any balckhat tactic that improve rankings?

Another question: cross-promotion like a "play more games" button in the app, can help too?

cheers, and tx for all the info you provide us!

And THIS is why I have said "If you want a decent education in making money online with the bullshit that usually comes with it then join BHW".

This is a really generous share and it's the kind of thing you only get on other forums if you pay for it. After reading this post I have just furthered my education :)

Thanks a lot for the good comments Bigbuddy. I will use some of them. I always had a huge success with google play but never with Apple. Time to change that :)

Today I launched my first ios app ever using your advice :)

Anyone interested can check it out on the ios app store called NavRoute
or www.navfitness.com/navroute/download

:)

How much did that app cost you Vital? I have a few games that are making good money but I don't understand how a game in the health space like yours will see a good return. I think that you should focus on creating applications that require lots of on screen tapping, that way people accidentally click ads.

Great thread. Even though I've been doing apps for a while, I still managed to learn some useful tips here.
