Apologies, been a little bit of a ghost but I did actually take the steps and I have an app that is 99% there, almost ready to launch. Costs are almost nothing, couple hundred $ a month MAX. As users come in the costs will increase through AI API costs but that will be paid off by subscription fee with a fat profit margin even though my subscription fee would MAX be $4.99 per month (still thinking about price point)
Although there's great suggestions above (thank's to all), I've landed on the idea of skin care. In my eyes it's a never ending niche, always new teenagers struggling with acne (even myself). The app is a V1 sort of thing with aim to just get it out there, build further based on user feedback. Here's what the app does, apologies for the AI written summary but thought to save myself time lol (left the name blank as I don't want it to look like I'm selling my app on here):
Meet _______: Your AI-Powered Skincare Coach
Skincare is confusing, and staying consistent is even harder. We built _______ to fix that. It is a complete ecosystem that analyzes your skin, builds your routine, and tracks your progress every single day.
Here is exactly how the app works from the moment you download it:
- Getting Started: After a quick sign-up (including Apple Sign In), users can unlock "______ Pro" via a subscription paywall to access unlimited AI scans and advanced analysis.
- The Personalized Dashboard: The main home screen greets you by name and acts as your daily command center. It shows your current skin type, tracks your daily water intake, logs your routine completion, and displays your overall skin health score.
- The Smart Scan: Whenever you need an assessment, you open the full-screen live camera. The app guides your framing, checks your lighting, and makes sure your face is detected. After snapping the photo, you type in your specific skin concerns, and the AI goes to work.
- Your Results & Routine: The app generates a full report detailing detected skin conditions, severity, and explanations. Based on those results, it recommends specific products and builds a custom morning and evening routine that you can save directly to your profile.
- Daily Tracking & Catalog: You aren't just left with a list. You can browse an in-app product catalog, add items to your morning, evening, or treatment routines, and tweak your steps as needed.
- Proving It Works: To keep you motivated, _______ includes a dedicated progress tracker. You can quickly log daily photos (without needing a full AI analysis every time) to build streaks, earn badges, and watch your skin score improve on visual charts over time.
In short: _______ turns your phone into a dermatologist's assistant that lives in your pocket, taking the guesswork out of what products to use and proving that your routine is actually working.
In summary, user takes a scan, get's a recommended skincare routine (here's a catch, I've built in a database of products from Amazon and Sephore that will act as affiliate scheme for more revenue). Once the user get's the recomened routine and products, they have a routine check list that they need to complete every morning and evening. Also built in a 'Take a Daily Picture' which after 7 days of taking pictures it sends an API call to see and give your progress for the week. Basically a dermatologist that's holding you accountable lol
Now, next steps are marketing. Main ideas that I am currently working on:
- AI Influencers (As many instagram accounts as possible)
- B2B, where I live there's beauty salon around every corner, and I mean literally around every corner. I am in a city that revolves around self improvement, beauty and aesthetics. So, I will do outreach to such beauty salons, Comission in exchange for users.
- Micro influencers promoting, but I don't have the money for that yet.
- Various forum channels for beauty however marketing there is hard as no one likes people selling on there.
UI is built quite neutral, both male and female (THERE'S ONLY 2 GENDERS!!!). But I do think females will be a lot easier to target for this sort of app.
Would appreciate any ideas or help on marketing. Happy to give out lifetime user subscription in exchange for help on marketing
Idea is that I will continue to build as many apps as I can, takes me around 2-3 weeks to build an app. That's if I put my head down and I stop investing so much time in my job (quite a lot of responsibility so need to play this carefully so I don't get fired lol). Max 2 months per app if I'm building something very complicated.
Fire away with marketing ideas plsss. Thank you for reading.
