    what is API when dealing with an affiliate network and how exactly does it affect me, or how can i use it to my advantage?

    Best way I can put it is an API is like building blocks for programmers. It also makes it easier for users to learn new programs since they most of them that share an API have the same interfaces.

    In the context of affiliate networks, most often an API is an interface used by programmers so that they can write programs that interact with the affiliate networks' servers directly. Two good examples of API usage would be checking stats remotely and setting completion pixels.

    EDIT: In 9/10 cases, if you have to ask, it won't effect you positively or negatively.
