Anything wrong with my SEO process?

So recently I've seen multiple people on this forum that state they rank first page in a month or two since they know SEO very well. I believe many of them as well I mean they've been doing SEO for more than a year or two. I started buying SEO around 7 months ago and that was horrible and a waste of mon(disavowed many), then I took a break and for about 1-2 months I've manually been link building and social media sharing.

My keywords are from medium to high competition (very high in some cases but I'm not referring to those). And I've been writing decent-good content for the past 2 months as well. Have more than 40 articles and 3 main pages (filled with LSI for sure). Yoast SEO says my onpage SEO is good on all post and I inter-link, have pictures, all that good stuff. I'd say my on-page is really good.

Below I'll describe the types of links that I build and hopefully somebody can help me out/tell me what's wrong.

1. Blog commenting (very few do-follow, decent amount of no-follow; it's how I first started)
2. Directories
3. HIGH PR do-follow profiles (google hasn't picked a single one up according to web-masters, and many are even PR 9, why is that)?
4. Guest blogs (Only 2 since it'shard to get this in my niche without paying $100+ a backlink)
5. Some yahoo answers (stopped after 5 so I get more referring domains instead)

On top of that I have a few shares on social media platforms. I do ping all my backlinks, but none of my .edu backlinks or profile backlinks are getting crawled. Any reason why and is there a difference between what I do and what many "experts" do?

are you ranking at all? And how much traffic do you get usually per 24h?

Yeah I'm indexed on google, I rank from 18-off the charts lol. Best ranking (for a targeted keyword) I've EVER had was rank #18 I suppose.

Profile links are VERY hard to index. I usually spam them with social bookmarks and mass blog comments and that tends to do the trick.

You SEO strategy does not have enough 'oomph' to rank high comp KWs. I would suggest going for more contextual links. If you can get more Guest Posts do it. They provide the best 'oomph' out of what you have listed.

Couldn't help but laugh with the 'oomph' lol. But I read multiple times that naked URL's do the best trick and helps not get slapped by upcoming google updates so I went for that rather than anchor URL's, and I'll get going on spamming my profile backlinks lol.

Answered you PM.

I use words like 'oomph' because a lot of 'newbies' do not follow words like link juice. Force of habit.

Do you think single page landing page is good or is it bad for SEO in 2015 ?

You should create web 2.0 blog posts and get links from there. Moreover make sure you use an indexing tool to get your backlinks indexed, else there is no use creating those backlinks.

Too weak, "might" work on easy to rank longtails.

I think as above you need some more contextual links - posts on some authority blogs in your niche, PBN links from BHW and also you could try building some web 2.0 profiles with decent and relevant content, link from there to your site and then build some decent links to those properties.

If it has a lot of content it can rank. I find pages with content (Several hundred word blocks) easier to rank.

I think the key in link building is:

- First of all your linked content have to be Great and with a lot of longtails to contextualize the Topic
- Backlinks from authoritative sources. I know it's really hard but 1 authority link can make the job that even 1000 crap backlinks can't do...
- As said by you, naked backlinks can help to avoind Google penalties (as a good follow/no-follow ratio)
- Your backlinks need to be made in a lot of relevant content. The more the content the more the power of your backlink because Google can understand better what it's about your page that receives the link
- Less anchors and more naked URLs to main category pages to distribute the link juice to deep pages

Plus I'm testing a link building without backlinks. I want to build trust in Google's eyes using mentions and brand citations.
For now the test isn't giving benefits but I think is a long term method to avoid Google's penalties

Thanks everyone for their help/advice! I'm building about 5 web 2.0's right now, then getting the PA on these web 2.0's pretty high so it's all relevant with good stats.

I also plan on finding LOW but good keywords to start targeting so I can bank a little as I try to keep ranking the main medium and high comp keywords.
