I've done ok with GoArticles too, my advice is to type in your KW and see whats on the first page already.
Yes. But here's the catch you need to remember....
Google like variety, so when you do make a check to see what's ranking already, then you know what sites NOT to use.
For example, if you see that there is a EZA, a Squidoo page, and a Blogger Blog on page 1 for your KW, then don't use the same sites for your content. Instead, you will get better results if you used an Articles Base article, a Hubpage, and maybe a Tumblr blog ,etc.
I have seen much faster and longer lasting results by doing this than I ever saw by trying to go after the same sites as my competitors. It's not impossible, but it takes more work since you will have to out-do them. It's much faster, efficient, and effective to give Google different sites because they love to rank a variety of sites.
A final note is that this can be applied to content types as well. For example, if you see a couple of videos ranking on page 1 but no web 2.0 or Press release, then give Google some web 2.0 and a Press Release as well as go after video.
