Hi fellow blackhatters,

I recently bought a domain, hostgator hosting and a WP CMS theme for my small business. Now what? How do I properly install the it with the Genesis Framework? How do I insert a blog on it?

Use fantastico for installation of wordpress. After some trial and error you can do a good install. Watch youtube videos for installation using fantastico. There are videos on youtube on installation of wordpress theme, plugins etc.

I can't see fantastico on the CMS software list. What should I do now? Sorry for being newb..

You must be having some kind of 3rd party script in your hostgator cpanel.. It can be any of the following:

1. Fantastico(you cleared it up that its not there)
2. Simple scrips(nice)
3. softaculous(best with loads of other options)
4. Quick Install(not that good but works)

If you are not able to locate any of these.. just buzz the hostgator support and they will help you out..

Coming back to Genesis Framework it again comes for Studiopress themes and can be quite a pain to configure because of so many options.. For this its better to go through the complete manual that studiopress gives you alaong with its theme..

Incase there is any particular theme of studiopress that you like and would want it for free you can refere to following sites:

http://www.wphackz.com( i own it but havent worked on it since 3 months os files may be missing)
http://www.wpbag.com (lots of options)
http://wplocker.com (old dog providing quality but downloads can be in packs and hence big)

Hope this helped :)

Guys let me clear this up for you. Sorry for posting incomplete details.

I bought a domain using Godaddy, bought hosting with Hostgator, bought WP CMS Theme at Studio Press.

What I have done so far is to use the Hostgator servers and I am now able to access my cPanel.

Now I want the theme I bought to be live at the root domain. Thanks guys..
and yes I have now seen Fantistico de Luxe on the Software/Services.

Now use Fantastico to install Wordpress on the root. When it asks which directory, don't input anything, it will install on the root.
Also, for installing the theme, you will either have to upload the files via FTP or Cpanel to your /wp-content/themes (i think it was that) folder or if you have the .zip file for the theme, you can upload it via the WP Dashboard when you go to Appearance -> Themes -> Add Themes

How about the Genesis framework? What should I do with that

Upload a normal wordpress via fantastico and then visit the themes section. In there you have the option to upload, upload a .zip , which will contain your genesis theme.

Job done...

What made you choose hostgator they are a bad host.

Hey guys. Thanks for all the help. I have successfully installed WP and the themes using Fantastico. Going to edit it now.
