Anyone using Desktop Computer in 2019?

I have one. As a backup machine.
I don't use it very often. But every time I use it I pat myself on the back for keeping this machine.

The laptop is on Windows + Linux dual boot.
The desktop is on Linux.

I'm using desktop since i was 12, only once had an laptop for like a year or two...

Same reasons.

I have a new problem now though: water is scarce in my region and electricity bill has shot up 300%. Bought one of those power meters and desktop really drains some juice. Notebook uses 20x less energy.

I'll eventually move my work to notebook and become digital nomad. Some day.

When electricity overtakes gas for car fuel, we'll all pay 5X more for electricity. Write this down - you'll remember I said this one day! Everything that becomes fuel becomes expensive. When they began using methanol for fuel, sugarcane and corn prices shot up 10x. So electricity is likely next.

Began moving windows -> linux in late 90's

I realize most IM'ers are microsofties. I only use windows on VPS + tools only available in windows.

That's battlestation porn right there. Sure you've seen this place? https://www.reddit.com/r/battlestations/

Could probably post yours there.

I'm mechanical kb fanatic but I'm starting to reconsider. My typing late at night is waking people up.

Personally though nothing beats a mech keyboard. Besides they last forever. Non mech kb's last 6 months max for me. The one in front of me has been here for 4 years and is still new.
Well i use windows as thats what i have used forever xD but if needed i can run a centos vm on command line and will work just fine hehhe

I used to own a Netbook and it was very convenient, but the technology is outdated now. Takes a long time just to check an email or something.

So right now I am just using a desktop computer. It's nice to have my 2 monitors to help me get work done and a dedicated work space always waiting for me.

Would like to get a good laptop in the future though.

Cant remember the last time i sat in front of a desktop

Desktop Mac + iPad = best of both worlds + Remote PC to run bots and remind me to never buy a PC.

I think if you do any job then you must have to use a desktop as I think laptop puts more stress to eyes and desktop has more speed and flexibility to work

Desktop with two 23" monitors. When I need to work on the laptop I feel me too limited.

have to, try finding pre-systemd/EFI compatible hardware on a LT, tablet or phone. Can't physically cluster or modify LT Hardware as easy. DTs are great for local network storage and extra mem capacity. Usually tap into them from another device, but can't live without them. There are other security considerations as well, especially for local access. Try just walking off with a 12U without strange looks ;) (I know, not technically a DT, but...)

fuggg(3x) never underestimate desktop you bascad !!!!!!!!!!!!!
