At first I was against using these because of the lack of complete control over the ads position and number... Yesterday though, I finally decided to test it out since I read some posts from people who saw a dramatic increase in clicks and earnings.

Today I tried opening one of my pages from a mobile phone and: saw one ad anchored to the top of the screen, 8 (EIGHT) in article ads, and a sidebar widget with matched content. So a total of 10 ads on a page with a 2000-word article. They've come a long way from "a maximum of 3 ads per page"...

I am honestly afraid of using this setup, there's just too many ads... Is anyone using it, what are your thoughts?

A friend of mine tried it. Far fewer ads appear, but his earnings are way, way up!

I'm trying it on my sites now, but it's too early to tell how well it performs.
With Auto Ads switched on, the number of ads it Adsense is inserting is a little bit too much to my liking, to be honest.

I tried it, way too many so switched off. As I was previously banned I'm not taking any chances

using auto ads from 7 days.

if you already using page level ads, then you will not see much change in earning.

OP, 3 ads per page rule is removed by them from a long. you can use as much you want. ( content > ads ratio )

they just removed the page level ads and replaced it with auto ads and many people got the earning boost but i think they are who not implemented the page level ads before. auto ads are mostly focused on converting mobile users as it adds 6 ads format and 4 out of them is for mobile users.

if you are getting 10 ads using auto ads, nothing to worry about as it is placed by them and not you until it not hurting user experience and causing any issue with the page appearance and layout.

I know the three ad rule was removed long time ago but this just seems ridiculous... It's a weird feeling man, on one hand you want to help people, provide them with the information they are looking for without shoving too many ads in their face; but on the other hand, if my website was gone from the serps tomorrow, those same users wouldn't care less, they'd just click on the next result :D

Anyways, I disabled the ads, I prefer to be in control.

Don't worry about the 'too many' ads, it's on them. They're the ones putting them there, so if the system doesn't work like it's supposed to, they're the ones to blame - so you're safe.

What bothers me is the RPM and CPM rates, I'm experiencing some really low rates. From your experiences could you tell me what would be an 'optimal' CPM / RPM / Page Views ratio? When I had a good RPM, I had crappy traffic. Now I have some really decent traffic numbers, but the RPM sucks. I just can't seem to get them aligned.

How low, and what is your niche?

It's this month and last month, I'm in the health and wellness niche, my content is scrapped, but authentic - completely rewritten, my traffic is from the USA, I'm getting anywhere between 3000 to 6000 page views per day on an average, but the RPM is an average of 1.50 (sometimes more - but not more than 1.90, sometimes less).

I was reading something about Google wanting to show ads on 'secure' websites (https). Do you guys know anything about this, whether or not it improves the numbers?

That is low... I am also in the health niche and my RPM is around $5. My website is over 5 years old, maybe that plays a role, idk. I also put a lot of effort in content, a lot of research and cite credible medical sources.

As for the https, I don't think it's that because my RPM was about the same before setting up SSL.

Hello,

We have used it and it was working great in some of our blogs it's still active with good results but it seems bit irritating for the readers sometimes because the placements are automatic. It shows one hope page and some other places where you don't really want any ads...

Yes, I noticed this as wel. My current setting is manual ad placement within the articles + vignette and anchor ads. Seems to be working ok so far.
