Anyone using a LMS?

I am preparing to build out an Learning Management System(LMS) and would love some information from anyone that has done it.

I am planning to use an LMS built Through Wordpress, as my trainings will be PDFs,videos, and HTML5 files.

If you’ve done this, what theme(s) did you try and which did you use?

I know from an SEO perspective, blog posts help provide more content, so I will also have a blog, which will be interlinked to specific trainings as well as to the entire library. The listing pages for the trainings will be minimal content, but what are some other tricks I could use to rank them?

Now this LMS won’t be on the aim domain, but rather hosted on a subdomain: learning.example.com as the main domain will have other components on it as well, such as a client dashboard for an app, ebooks for purchase, and such.
Any tips on ranking it using this method as well?

Not personally but a friend has build one, he used memberpress, I think it's a great all in one solution, try to check :)
 
I had to implement lms in a couple projects in past. In one I used moodle, and in the other one I used some kind of a wp lms plugin (client provided, forgot the name). If you are looking for feature lists to implement, you might take a look at moodle demo (preferably, install it yourself so that you can see the admin... Its super complicated and huge). It will give you an idea about the market i think.

I looked at Moodle, it just didn’t seem to be able to integrate as easily as I hoped.
I’ll have to give it another look.

We´ve been selling courses on Udemy for a year now and seems to work. There are a lot of disadvantages of hosting the courses there, so we decided to move to our own place.

We searched for alternative solutions like Teachable.com but we wanted a lot of features (like paying commisions) that where either not present or avaiable for the most expensive plans. So, we opted to go with Wordpress + Learnpress + Woocommerce. Branding is very important for our proyect, so EDUMA Theme (USD 69) was a no brainer.

I've been developing the academy since a month now (a few hours a day, don't have much time to invest on it) and I can say that the operative part (selling courses) is ready and working. There are a lot of work to do about copyrighting, design and brand related stuff. Also, we still have to migrate the courses from Udemy to LearnPress.

WP + LearnPress + WC isn't the easiest way to go, but it is the most powerful combo if you really wanna develop the site as an ecommerce+elearning selling machine with almost no fixed costs.

As soon as I finish building the site I will publish an in-depth info about it, Learnpress and stuff and how we expect it to work (so later I can compare results).
