Hey guys,

i saw that a lot of people are making nice cash by flipping sites so i though i could try my luck there.

I am good web designer and i can create great looking and functional web sites so i though i could do something like this :

1) Buy aged domain with at last PR3 and nice amount of backlinks ( i found a good deals for around 90-100$ per domain )

2) Create a good looking web site according to the domain niche

3) Boost Alexa rank

4) Create or buy Facebook fan page and get 100.000 fans

5) Create a twitter with 200k followers ( or buy one )

And then try to sell it on flippa.

I would say that the web site does not have any income because it wasn't been made to monetize it and i would say that a plus because purchaser could put what ever he wants.

Have anyone tried something like this and how much have you earned ?

Thanks

I have a guy in my Facebook friend list who has made around 1 million using similar technique. Every once in a while he lists his website on Flippa. It's a great deal if you able to boost the value of the website.

Cheers :)

It's an old chestnut that has been around a long time - it often makes money sure - but nearly always shafts the buyer!

Remember in life what comes around always goes around... especially if you are on the way down expect a kicking as someone like these buyers will be waiting to get you...

Well if we consider that professional web design and coding service cost a lot, buyer is not going to be scammed or anything. And if we add good looking domain with high pr + easy to remember, he is actually going to get the whole package for small amount of money.

Yes ! dariobl
This method works I am also doing same but I use to add little bit extra to increase my earnings.

go head.

Cheers!!

Thanks for answers guys :)

Once more thing, how do you receive the payments ? Honestly i don't want to go through paypal, because of 30 days hold from paypal + potential risk if the purchaser is fraudlent ?

Does buyers pay via Western Union or wire transfer?

escrow.com is the safe route

LMFAO - a fraud worried about running into another fraud. That's a pretty serious risk when the buyer figures out you lied your ass off.

This method has been around forever but it always ends in short order. Where you going to extract the money? How many chargebacks before they cancel your account? How many negs on Flippa before buyers ignore your listings? How many accounts can you keep separate without Flippa linking them? You do know sellers will report your listings daily right?

Go ahead, but realize it's short term and what I call hit and run selling. Buyer's will do chargebacks when they figure out your scam and PayPal and other payment methods don't protect from chargebacks.

Better to figure out how to make decent sites, get them traffic and sell something the buyer enjoys rather than trying to figure out how to fuk a buyer without him fuking you.

JMHO

It can work, sure. If you want it to work long term you need to make sure the buyer is getting a quality product, so it's not going to be easy money for nothing. But sure, if you're going to put the work in to make sure the buyer is getting a good product and that they won't come after you for a refund, then flipping a site with potential is a good way of making a nice little pot for yourself.

Why don't you just do it properly and then you can keep doing it for a long time? You are far better putting your effort into learning and doing something for the future than making a quick buck.

Flipping sites is big business if you do it right.

Properly meaning selling decent sites with revenue that are actually worth something

well, I would be more pessimistic :/

.. these days it is very hard to sell domains/websites.

another thing - when you sell domains -> domain authority is more important than pr; but the most important part is - how much the domain actually makes money already

I personally would never pay xxx$ for a website without proper earning proof , and this proof should not include only screen captures ! I mean connecting to sellers adsense account (or visitors / stats account) real time , with a software like team viewer to be sure.."

Two more points : boosted alexa traffic can be detected easily. + Everybody checks wayback.archive.org to see if the content of the site is recently changed /entered.
So I would not advise this.

My buddy flips sites, he says he's done pretty well. But it took years of sitting on stuff to make any money. Income proof seems to be the most important thing for sales.

but nearly always shafts the buyer!

Exactly. You should play fair.

Every web site I have purchased on Flippa has been oversold in the pitch. You have to know what your buying the web site for and never trust what is in the description. Then again, if you can get away with it, why not do it?

What idiot buys a site without a revenue stream?

OP - I would get the site earning some $$ first, then sell or keep it. There are plenty if services on BHW that can rank an aged domain easily and keep the rankings up. If you pick the right niche you could make some good cash.
