So when I first got into crypto, I just mined. And I toyed and traded and worked my way up to like .8 bitcoin. Then came the btc spike, as well as the release of Protoshares(PTS) and being now more aware im on a planet and it has chinese on the other side, I started to really really look into their exchanges. Soon, because the usd price difference of usd:btc and cny:btc at the time was anything from $200-$500. There alone was a patient chance to take advantage of the gap in trades. But I took it a step further. I would do the math between altcoin trades, fiat and btc to find profit % I could seize. So mostly with PTS at first, I turned my .8 btc into just over 2 in one day. Then I really hit the pavement and started trading on many other coins. Some were coins i'd not used, and the transfer times ended up taking too long so I'd have profit losses and break-evens pretty often. I really began to love wdc for its speedy transfer times. Between wdc and maxcoin I traded my way to over 20btc and lost it in a max dump. Right down to around 6btc. Sold one at ~1k. Dropped that in fees on the site which price of plummeted. Ended up sitting with .5btc with I sold for like $200 recently. Officially out of the game ---- But there is a whole other story here I didn't mention. I didn't really make any money with it. The West vs China price war was over the the price homogenized. But while it was crashing, I went through many iterations, from curl-based, to EE-ajax based, to JS-Node-mongo script that was really fun to write. Basically it would compare orderbooks on many sites. Many of which didn't have an api and I had write a custom scraper for just that site. The data in this screenshot is flawed, but you can kind of see what I was trying to achieve. So is anyone doing this sort of thing? (still?) And doing it on a whole nerdy awesome level ?
