Ever since the whole Yahoo thing went on with one of my sites losing over 70,000+ backlinks, I've managed to get ALL my keywords on the first page of Google.

However, I'm getting 10x less traffic.

This didn't make sense at all until I looked at my website more closely and realized that the 19,000+ keywords bringing me traffic have now been reduced down to less than 500.

So at this current point in time, I'm assuming Google has, once again, updated their Algorithm to base traffic and position ranking purely on Relevancy.

I noticed that the thousands of keywords that were not related to my site, but brought me the most traffic are now non-existent.

Anyone else notice something similar?

Damn, every time I dominate more niches, Google changes their Algorithm, and it's once again back to the drawing boards.

for me its the opposite. G deffinetly did something because I'm getting 300-500 more more hits this month. Before I was avgerging 1.2k a day and now its 1.5K with my biggest day being 1.7K.

For some reason, my sites traffic have dropped, but I haven't figured out the reason 100% yet.

But it's good to see others getting more traffic and not less.

The site I'm currently focusing on was affected, the traffic was down by around 70%. This continued for about 5 days. But it's back to normal today, will see how much it gets tomorrow.

Some of my sites have big swing in traffic from one day to the next. I'm talking about 50-70% less between two days even though my SERPs are the same thing. Google must be doing something that is turning traffic up and then down.

Did you check your backlinks on site explorer? My backlinks dropped by 80 percent and my pages dropped 30 percent in one day.. wtf

Yahoo is showing quite a bit less backlinks for my sites as well, but no drop in the SERPs.

it's probably because you guys are bombing sites with links, all I see are big numbers....so the less relevant dropped and the more relevant ranked? sounds like the big g got more accurate?

Google new algo is hitting hard not only on spam sites, spam backlinks and other blackhat estate but also whitehat sites with great content and authority backlinks which were ranking for their keywords for years.

I am on webmasterworld and yes, there is something brewing with Google. It seems that a major update is going on but as usual we dont know for sure. Starting from October 20th something changed f but it could be due to the yearly algo shift to holiday mode.
As far i am concerned my blog (tech blog) despite it doesnt sell anything got a little spike in visits.
However majority of webmasters at webmasterworld (which, by the way, is the forum where Matt Cutts posts...huh?..dont know the guy?...well, go and kill yourself , you d.u.m.b.a.s.s!) are noticing something major.

To you guys, the more another year goes by the more Google gets smarter...we have to stick this fact in our mind!

The last step for Google will be to shift to a sementic search engines which will be able to understand what it is reading...it a a backlink is good, if a blog is a spammy one etc.
In the meantime we have to enjoy ourself with linkwheels, backlink profiles etc...
