I have a desktop that I need to upgrade and I have a friend that owns Win 7 Pro 64bit but we do not know if I will be able to run my SEO programs on this OS. I thought I would ask here to see what you guys use. I do not want to spend money on a VPN because I can rebuild my desktop for what I need it for.

Programs
  • GSA Search Engine Ranker - Running 24/7
  • GSA Index - Running 24/7
  • Captcah Sniper X4 - Running 24/7
  • SB -When needed
  • All the Link-Asst. - when needed except Rank Tracker -Running
  • ChimpRewriter - When needed
  • TweetAdder4 -Running 24/7

I did contact Edwinsoft and a few other compaines but waiting for email replies so why I wait I am asking here.

What I plan to buy
Motherboard - Unsure but server type
OS - Windows 7 Pro - Hopping I can buy it off my friend then I can buy this very cheap.
CPU - intel Xeon
RAM - 16gigs to start

I use win pro 64 bit and use GSA, scrapebox, captchasniper - don't use the others but can't see a problem. Never had any problems using any SEO software.

I use Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, most SEO tools will work fine.

Since you plan to build a server did you consider Windows Server 2012?

No I did not look into to cost to buy that OS. I am hopping to buy the OS off my friend for $30-60 dollars as it is just collecting dust. That is why i am going with his OS now that I know I will be able to run my programs.

Thanks everyone for giving input.

Since you are planning on running a lot of programs I would recommend getting the PC you want and just running a VPS
on it for your programs and tools.

If you're only planning to run tools on it then I would recommend you to install Windows Server 2008/2012 because you will end up saving a lot of memory (RAM) because Windows 7 is a big time resource consumer.

Further, all those programs mentioned in your post are compatible with Windows Server 2008/2012.

If you want something to run on High speed Bandwidth with a lot of configuration for 24x7 then I would recommend you to get a VPS.

I have used most of those on 64bit Win7 fine, however that work is all now done on a VPS.
