Thinking about finally buying GSA instead of outsourcing the work, and I'd like to just host it on one of my HG VPS accounts. Wondering if there is anything I should know before going forward? The guy at HG seemed to think it would be ok, but I'd like to hear from people who have already done it.

HG means Hostgator? Well not sure if they have any bandwidth limit on the VPS or not. If there is no bandwidth limit then you will be OK running GSA with proxies.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure it is unlimited. I was also thinking along the lines of 'compliance', as some hosts might not be keen on someone running linkbuilding software 24/7...I considered going with a SEO VPS service like Bulletproof so that I could play around with all the pre-loaded programs, but that would only be a short-term solution as I figure out what I need.

HG sucks A LOT lately, I have been recommending them for 3 years in a row (since I started IM at 2009), but since EIG bought them it is falling apart. Better buy a Windows VPS here in BHW (check the marketplace), much better in my opinion.

You can go with vpswindows.biz. They are the most cheapest I have ever seen and they are OK with running link building tools.

I'm running GSA on my old PC, locally. But I have used many vps before.
So I think there are two Strategies:
1. Submit a ticket, asking whether they allow this or not.
2. Just run the GSA campaign secretly on an unlimited-bandwidth VPS.

And one Question and one suggestion:
Why do you choose Hostgator? It's quite expensive actually.
My suggestion is find a windows vps. There are plenty of them in the market.

OP,

If HG vps is under the bandwidth, then I'd suggest you to look for unmeterd vps solution. Try darkvps.com

On the other side:
You need minimum 20 private proxies for posting. Always use public proxies for scraping.
For captcha solving > GSA captcha breaker or captcha sniper.
For content > Kontent machine, wordai or article builder

Thanks for this info as well JasonS. I have heard mixed reviews on GSA CB, but I'm guessing it isn't that bad. I'm currently on trial with Kontent Machine...I just started using it yesterday and hooked it up to my TBS account, I was impressed by how decent it is. Sure, there are some weird sentences here and there, but some of the stuff is good enough to rewrite into a MS article.

I recommend hosting called bulletproofvps.com, they offer all the tools, best support and everything they can to help you start the SEO correctly. They've even made videos for the people who've not subscribed any kind of plan with them.
You'll need btw, captchabraker.
You can find WAC for free and use it until you can afford it. Also, private proxies (semi-dedi/dedi) are recommended but additional for better success rate getting verified links.

I'm in a similar boat actually... I am going to start by using my work computer with go to my pc when I'm not there. If that doesn't pan out I was thinking about dreamhost.

Vps is not a way to go if you want to make alot of links. For price of strong vps you can buy dedicated server (with vps you get 1/4 -1/8 of dedicated server so its not big deal). I know many guys here use vps and i dont get it why when you can buy dedicated server for $60 a month. You dont need bulletproof server - good & tested hosting company + proxies is enough.

Biggest problem you can face are lists - you have to buy them (monthly cost) or scrape yourself (costs of public proxies for scraping + gscraper as its few times faster than sb and more stable, ofc you can also scrape with scrapebox or SER but you will get better results with Gscraper).

Name your monthly budget for server and i will help you.

I recommend hosting called bulletproofvps.com

Looks like bulletproofvps are scammers.

I don't think so, I've been talking with the support and managers a lot and I know many satisfied customers.
