I was hit pretty badly in the code update this time around. The helpful content update started it, but the core update kind of finished it, and it has been slowly decreasing every single day. I took a break for a week to just get things together and then came back wanting to tackle the update and see what I can fix with the core update and with the helpful content update, but the thing is... I have no clue where even to begin. I see my website's overall metrics and have compared them to others and do not see any real reason my site would not be very "helpful" I do not have any AI content. All my content is pretty to the point. my article's average length is around 1k words, but my average time on a page is 6+ minutes. My bounce rate is high, and my session duration is overall low, but the way my website is built, targeting questions and people looking for quick answers (which google acted like they wanted, by the way) I do not really see any place I can improve to make the site more overall "helpful."

I feel kind of stuck on what even to do and just plan to keep posting content and hoping maybe the site will just naturally recover, or someday someone will have some actual solid advice on what to do, but in the meantime was curious if ANYONE was hit in the last core update, and managed to get the site back up with this most recent update.

Heck, has anyone been hit in any past core updates and then had the site recover months later?

yeah, there are people on the forum who have been hit by core updates and then recovered completely several month later without doing anything. If I can find the thread in which I've read this I will link it here, but I can't guarantee that I'll find it so don't hold your breath :)

Maybe someone else can offer a solution, but in the meantime don't do anything for a month or two

I don't have first hand experience about recovery as the HCU (and PRU) were the practically the first time I got hit, but I've seen many sites that I've been tracking that recovered / is recovering from previous updates.

For instance, this one site lost 15000 keywords in the top10 only in August, and now recently started recovering heavily, winning back 500-600 top10 keywords every day according to SEMRush.

See, you won't find any advice or anything that will help you recover from the core update. I got hit and there are millions that got hit.

A few will recover but it will happen naturally. It's google that controls everything. Don't try to experiment with different things. It won't work.
