Anyone recently ranked a micro niche site with minimum link building?

I have heard that there were some people who created larger number of (more than 1000) micro niche sites and seo them in a simple way (I hope it is social signals and web 2s) and get adsense revenue from these site. They were targeting few dollars from each site (about 1$ - s$) per day. And cumulatively they will earn thousands of dollars per day from all sites.

Is this possible today? In my experience now a site needs some amount of content and few months to rank them with some hard work on seo.

Is there any people who doing this even today?

I haven't done it myself but it sounds like a lot of work. Why wouldn't you just concentrate on a few and maximise them?

yes. Currently I'm focusing on the 2nd type. But I put lots of effort and money to rank my sites.
I was just curious about the method I mentioned. They have ranked micro niche sites pretty easily.

and more importantly, according to what I heard, this is a set and forget method. You build a micro niche site - do some seo and gain some ranking and forget it.
 
What for u means a micro niche website? How many articles?

Investing in 100 niche sites and outsourcing the content could be better than 1000 micro niche sites.
 
If you nailed the niche i don't think u need to waste ur time with linkbuilding, just focus on content.

But yet, nailing the niche is the hard part! :)
 
Couple of months(three) back I created a microniche site with a goal, which I am not working on anymore; just started collecting 30 organic page visits a day. No link building on my side = ZERO!, two social share and thats it. Might work on it again, this thread reminded me of this oldie
 
For example, if you try to rank local keywords with ez competition, it's possible, best way is to optimize time - effort for management of these sites.
