I tried posting some flyers the other day, I only managed to give out 100 or so..just in journal boxes, and some random buildings and banks at the atm, I just taped them up....I didn't see 1 click from it...it was a bizz op, and I'm in the worst place imaginable...Flint Michigan, probably one of the highest unemployment rated cities in all of the states...it was a pretty decent flyer too. I'm just wondering if anyone else has been doing this and failed miserably like I did...cause from what I've read her before, flyers do pretty well.

it depends on what you are trying to market. I live in Austin so its works well here. We have several university here so you find deals that they would be interested in and then print away.

I also do real estate I pass out about 10k flyers a week and my cost per call is about 6 bucks a call so for real estate that is good.

just putting up at atm and banks or where every you can find a place is not the best way to go about it.

if you are going to hit up office buildings. Then find an offer that would catch an office workers eye while getting a soda.

keep trying. If you dont put out 2k in a day you will not get enough feed back to see if its worth while or not.

I print 6-10 sets of flyers for BHW'ers every week. Billsboard is absolutely right, a little creativity, a seriously catchy flyer and your conversions will be good. Also find some reliable ppl to help canvas your areas.

right on, it was mostly a test to see if anything would come of it, I thought maybe a couple clicks.....looks like a failed test...back to the drawing board...maybe some better written flyers and some new locations. Thanks guys.

on flyers you will get better conversions on Pay per call ads. They are more apt to pick up the phone and call then take the flyer home and go online. but it does happen.

Like one I did was with dish network. they call in to an 800 number with your promo code and if they sign up you get credit for it. I tried this one both ways with just having them go to a web site, and then one just having them call the number.

out of 2k flyers going to the web only 2 signed up after one month.
out of 2k flyers calling in I had 28 people sign up after one month.

at a little over 100 bucks per sign up not bad.

    just have to look around.

I'm interested in knowing what you were trying to advertise, and if you had a targeted demographic.. Like Brandy said. Best response will come from Ad's/Fliers that are targeted to a specific audience. Your not going to post a Computer offer outside a Mattress store. Going around town and posting a flier where ever you see space available is not an effective way to spend your time, and you are potentially wasting money with the ineffective fliers.

All forms of marketing requires you to do a little work on research before you jump in. Just like how you would research your keywords/competition for Internet Marketing, the same effort should be used in your offline marketing as well.

    Don't half ass it.

Be creative, and save all the direct mail you receive. I always look over any type of flier I receive and direct mail i get. A lot of it has been tested to receive the highest response rate (mostly direct mail, since it costs most per piece than fliers do). you can try to mimic that for your fliers.

A little ole lady went behind you throwing your fliers in the garbage probably. In most places is against the law to place flyers. Don't put any contact information on them. Don't touch mailboxes (violation of federal law) or put them on car windshields where they can fall to the ground. You'll get fined for littering. Don't put them on electric posts either or the city will fine you. Research this method of marketing. That's if you want to be a good guy and follow the law.

Now, if it is was me who doesn't care a flying capital F. about the law regarding flyer marketing, I'd triple my efforts and inundate the whole freaking city with flyer trash.

In regards to the number vs URL-thing.

How would you go about if you had an e-commerce business?

"send a blank text to this number and get a discount!"?
Then when the person receives the text, it would say something like
"Thank you for your sms. Goto urlgoeshere.com and enter the code CUPONCODE for 10% discount. Regards, urlgoeshere"

Promoting a restaurant/physical store would be a lot easier than something on the web.

Flyers seem to be more effective when ran in thousands. If you are doing it yourself, it can get a bit repetitive and the conversions are shitty if you have no idea what you are doing for it.

Yeah I agree, it is a numbers game with fliers.
Also, the competition offline is minimal due to the amount of work needed to get rolling.

It's also low competition because not everyone is doing in this statute. Most are doing it to promote actual services, housing, and items. So it tends to throw off guard.
