This could very well be something that has to do with googles new algorithm changes, but I have been noticing some very weird things happening.

For one thing, one of my main site has a page that I worked on heavily for about 4 months (greyhat, no direct xrumer blasts, etc) and while the rankings were good (#5) it stopped moving up in the serps. I stopped working on promotions for a little while as my offline business picked up. Then 2 weeks ago, I noticed traffic had dipped so I went to investigate..and to my surprise the page URL was deindexed. The domain and all the other pages were there, but this one page was gone. I was kinda bummed out because I had been working hard on it previously..but I was still busy so aside from a senuke blast and social bookmarking I did nothing.

Then a funny thing happened, today I saw I had a huge spike in traffic and when I investigated, the URL was reindexed but now at spot #1 on first page. I hope it stays..but Im more curious as to what actually happened? Anyone seeing weird behavior lately?

sounds like a google dance. since the caffeine update google dances more then ever... and with every algo change google has to recalculate all positions. maybe it was just another algo update and until your pages calculation was finished you dropped out of the serps.

Ive had a site with a fairly regular ranking for the past year (lots of number 1 positions on good keywords), spiked 2 weeks ago with an influx of traffic then tailed off last week to about 1/2 of what it was normally doing. Looks like some of my number one positions have dropped to the second page.

Not sure if it will go back or what.

I dont think it was a google dance. The domain itself is 10 years old and pr4. Granted, the page was newish and had no PR but it was sitting at #5 for a few months steady. The weird thing was it dropped out of the index altogether but came back. Did you experience anything weird?

It's definitely not google dance - when that happens, page doesn't get deindexed. Do you have any duplicate content on that page?

Yeah 2 of my domains keep randomly disappearing off page 1 and into obscurity for 2 weeks at a time but think google doesn't find enough decent content on the sites. One is for a really uncompetitive term though and it still vanished so google dance is a wierd one.

No, this is one of my moneymaker websites so only unique content gets posted. The only thing i can think of is something changed in the recent algorithm that suddenly put more weight into my backlinks. Still doesnt explain the deindexing and sudden reindexing though..

Whatever you call it - it happened to a page of mine to that was on a domain thats 5 years old and has A LOT of trust. Bottom line, same happened, page came back after 2 weeks or so. Maybe sandbox would be a better word, for me both are the same as long as the site/page comes back after 2-3 weeks. :)

Maybe the new algo change deindexes the link for a period of time (whereas with the normal Gdance in the past it would just drop rankings)

I also experienced this. One of my pages keeps changing between 5-11th position.
Also one of my friends got on first page for a few hours for a super super competitive keyword.

i dont think its de indexed just gone for a dance - im v sure it ll be back just chill out - and wait

my traffic dropped from 10000 PL to 950. per day from last 5 days till now.

Is it deindexed or did it just get pushed way back in the SERPS?

Deindexed is bad, that means Googled banned your site from their listing. If your domain/page shows up when you search with site:yourdomain.com then you are still in the index, if not then G has banned your domain.

It is just probably way back in the SERPS and if you apply some backlinks it will come back again.

I also have site that was number 5 for a fairly competitive keyword than one day it got pushed out of the serps came back for a few days had decent traffic then disappeared again. It hasn't returned yet but I am hoping and waiting. I thought it was just my site but I see that I am not alone.

I think it is an algo change. A portion of my autoblogs just got deindexed. It's weird though, because some are coming back into new positions - some higher and some lower.
Anyone else seeing anything on their sites?

It was DEINDEXED, not pushed back. I used "site:URL" and it didn't show up. It came back though, which was very strange.

The EXACT SAME THING is happening to one of my sites. It's kind of annoying.
