Hi,

I have my own vpn server. I am building an app for playstore to monetize it. Anyone else making banks from selling vpns?

Nowadays?
I doubt it would be very profitable. Maybe if it were 5–10 years ago and you were getting in the business while it was young, sure it could’ve been a great opportunity. But today there are hundreds of different VPN providers, and very few are well known today. Unless you could get a ton of funding and then provide something much better than other providers, you can’t really compete with paid VPNs.
It is very difficult, there is a lot of strong competition and unless you offer really good services - don’t even bother.

I guess I'm sitting here wondering how your VPN would stand out from the competition.

There's literally 1000s of free vpns and 100k free VPN apps on the android play store.

Many of them try to monetize by having a subscription upgrade, others try to proxy sites and inject ads. More blackhat ones steal user data and resell facebook accounts and other logins.

Unless you go really deep blackhat - it's not profitable from what I've seen. These services get abused heavily from spamming to being used for very illegal things (the kind of things that have interpol & fbi asking for IP logs).

Not anymore. I don't want to discourage you, but this is the reality. This is the era of Residential and 4G (5G) mobile proxies.
