What shocked me most about the UK is what they consider to be a 'hotel'. Your housing situation is crazyThanks for all the suggestions everyone, crazy how much further your money goes compared to the UK. You'd pay double if not more for the same house. Plus our weather is terrible!

Yes! savannah is riddled with crime and low life scum now, they're slowly moving inward toward pooler, robberies thefts and assaults are on the rise!

That is too bad... I liked that area and probably Wilmington Island and Skidaway a bit more but there will always be ebbing and flowing.
Thunderbolt was good as you could bypass the city and head out of town or head to Tybee and Wilmington Island for a nice day.

thunderbolt is still a nice little place great fishing, same with the islands. like Wilmington and skidaway. Those are still fine. Too expensive, not enough room to build anymore to many swamps as you know I'm sure. But inland, like pooler, garden city,
Richmond Hill, Port Wentworth, etc, are being invaded by builders and land developers, much the trees are gone and massive apartment complexes are springing up everywhere, wherever there is a little itty bitty man-made pond a massive 500+ unit complex shows up. It's disgusting, my neighbors and I are worried about our home values. As many know apartments bring crime and lower home prices. Pooler is ground zero for the construction boom in the deep south. Massive overpasses are being scheduled to be built, ( was just at a town hall meeting, lawyers everywhere ).
If anybody is looking to invest in some land, I highly suggest you take a look at pooler GA. Incredible growth is happening. But not the way I would like to see it, a lot of strip malls/gas stations. You know how it is, small towns see big money and don't ask zoning questions until it's too late.
fortunately, I'm moving back to California in a handful of months. Hopefully, I can make it out there without getting Thyroid fever or the plague.

I do often think about eloping myself. Manchester just doesn't cut it anymore. Although, i was thinking more like Spain or Turkey lol

I think the reason why property is expensive in the UK is that elites from other parts of the world particularly developing countries like to launder their money and keep it safe by buying a properties there.

Certain parts of London have seen property prices pushed up by non-domiciled individuals or expats, but it's not representative of the UK overall.
There is a shortage of housing, especially affordable, so the supply vs demand law comes into play. There has also been a fundamental shift in the housing market as new properties are primarily built now by developers. In previous decades, you had housing associations and local authorities building affordable houses, but this has now shifted.
Developers have a vested interest to ensure returns for their shareholders, so they sell properties at significant premiums to keep their profit margins healthy.

I used to stay in Doral, FL (Doral West Luxury Apartments) back in 2015 and i really enjoyed !
Very nice and quiet place. If you wanna hang out Miami is 20 min away. Dolphin mall (largest mall in Miami Dade i think ) is 10 min away.
I stayed for 3 months and for the time that i spent there i would suggest !

It's been mid to high 30s here this past 2 weeks in Spain, while I've had family and friends back in the UK had the heating on at night....
8pm here is still mid 20s, sat out by the pool in shorts enjoying a cold drink OR 8pm UK sat around with the heating on enjoying a cup of hot chocolate to warm the bones.

I live in Tallahassee.
I highly recommend checking out the Stuart area you like quiet beach towns.
Lake Worth is kinda nice too if you can stand the hipsters.

Mate, I am literally ready to go. lol
I have been a few times, the people are great and the weather and culture are perfect.
I will, hopefully, start my training as a Microsoft consultant in another few months. Once that is underway and I have developed some skills I will be able to land a job there, no problem.
At the moment, it is my number one choice.
Although, I do wish Turkey was a part of the EU. I do love Turkey.

Miami Beach here. Love it here but its def not for everyone. This week you open your door and walk outside to getting hir with a wave of humidity. I also love that every day is an adventure. It's for the abnormal. I dont bat an eye when I see what most people would be considered wierd. It all goes on here. Ive seen everything...a women on a crotch rocket will blow by you in a motorcycle with a monkey hanging in her back, a guy will walk by in heels, someone once robbed a restaurant that 4 cops were eating at then shot a huge fish tank ran out the door and another 2 cops were meeting their 4 friends inside. Seen 4 people riding a horse on a highway. We are one strange state especially south florida.
I've lived in Tampa for 3 years. Love it here. Downtown area is so nice. Very clean. Lots of money and improvements being made. Ybor and South Howard are fun bar places districts. Downtown doesn't have much going on other than lightning games. A property in Hyde Park is a good bet. Prices will just continue going up if you ask me. University nearby. It's just so damn nice here. I'm coming from Cleveland though where everything is old and run down. Clearwater Beach is really nice and about 30 min away from Tampa too.

@Holzr definitely stay on the east coast of florida. I recommend Daytona Beach because not only you enjoy the beach, and the river for boating, it also has an airport with regular flights to atlanta, and on and off again flights to NY. Another person mentioned St. Augustine, but it does not have an airport. So you have to either use Jacksonville or Daytona Beach. If being close to airport does not matter for you, then St. Augustine is also good.

If I had to settle down though it would be delray beach and boca. Check those out. You have it all there. It's a super nice area. Tampa area is my 3rd choice. 4th choice is Manhattan beach in cali. But there you have lots more taxes and hippy folk.
All the crypto guys and traders are now calling old town in san juan Puerto Rico home. if any of you guys are grossing over 2M per year that's the place to be if you want to pay zero taxes. Its 2k for set up and 5k annually to a local charity, then theres no federal tax at all only a small local tax. You have to live min of 6 mo per year there to be considered a resident and your federal income tax stops after you're there for exactly 1 year.
