Anyone knowledgable with fixing boilers?

Problem solved everyone. The condensate pipe froze. Gotta wait for warmer weather

pour hot water over it, then get insulation lagging and wrap it around it.

What's the point in having a boiler if you need to wait until it's warm to use it?
 
Do boilers/radiators actually do well to keep a house warm? Seems unnecessarily inefficient to me. Super 60's lol

they are ok. Combi boilers are better than what we used to have in the UK. (Water tanks, immersion heaters, and hot air blowers with air ducts around the house).
The biggest problem is that you need the radiator under a window, and don't cover it. lol.

in this house, we just use infrared heaters. In my old house, we had a 5-ton+ furnace in the basement that would pump heat all over the house from wood-burning with a backup oil burner. That house was upgraded to a heat pump now but still has the furnace. In mid-winter it can get -40c here, I don't think boiling water would cut it :P. Since I'm just renting this house there isn't much I can do about replacing the infrared heaters, although they are fairly easy on electricity so it's not so much an issue. This house leaks heat like a bitch though. If I had my way I would install a furnace here as well.

Boiling water alone is not brilliant, but that's why it is pressurised to 2.5 bar, (36.25psi). That makes the boiling point about 127.4 degrees C (~261F). Still not the best option, but the way we (the UK) looks at it is, if its not broken, don't fix it.

not related to boilers but one of my toilet had no water turns out the pipe was frozen due to cold weather ..... it's been like 4 days, still frozen

Yeah, infrared is pretty good, but all these things have the same thing in common, If elec ever goes out that's it, you die. That's why I love a good solid furnace, even if it's only used a couple of days a year! The concept of the furnace might be old, but any modern-day furnace is extremely efficient with all the heat energy compared to old ones that would cause 98% of the heat to escape. Consider this, 1 cord of wood has roughly an average of 28 million BTU's worth of energy (depending on the species of wood ofc). (8205KWs) Imagine the cost of trying to get that much energy out of your wall outlet xD. You could also heat up your boiler in a pinch if it's set up that way (albeit probably a terribly dangerous idea :P)
 
Update:

All my friend told me this wouldn't work. But I respect science, so it respects me back. I had faith.

I put an electric heater in the room with my boiler, I got the temperature to 37 degrees Celsius, left it for 2 hours, the idea was to transfer the heat from the pipe inside, to the outside where the ice had formed.

I was told I was crazy, I was told it was not going to work, when my boiler sounded like it was going to explode, I kept going, I was told to turn it off straight away, I believed. It worked. I have hot water again, I can finally do the dishes.

Problem. Solved.

P.S who the fk needs to spend £200 on an engineer when you have a scientific brain. The sky is the limit people, never stop believing no matter how many people tell you it won't work or tell you to stop.
 
My boiler was red today, the pressure was below 1 bar. So I filled it up to 1.5 bar, turned it on, and now it makes a bubbling sound, when the flame comes on it turns into a violent bubbling sound. Tried bleeding the radiators but all that came out was water.

It's a combi-boiler,

Anyone have advice?
Just had mine fixed today (UK) the condenser pipe froze and water backed up into the boiler making the racket. The plumber said all he has done today is deal with frozen condenser pipes.

Aye that's good mate, I've been reading up on it and they are suppose to insulate the outside condensate pipe per regulations, if no insulate like mine then it's a dodgy boiler fitter. Think it was a which? video on YouTube that stated it. Quite annoying as mine has no insulation either.

But for the future, if it happens again just get a £12 electric heater from amazon, and place it near the inside condensate pipe and the heat will travel to the outside and defrost the ice.
