Anyone know how to make a brochure?

I am trying to make a brochure for my friend and I am not having great success at getting everything lined and put in.

Can someone help me?

You need to hire one professional graphic designer.

Use Adobe InDesign. They are made for that sort of thing. A quick google search on "InDesign brochure tutorial":

You have a lot of fiverr gigs that are for making brochures, go and check them out.

I use photoshop although I've heard InDesign is better for text based print.

Still, all you gotta do is torrent any version of photoshop. Just go to kat and pick any version (I personally like the older versions).

Then you start hunting for "photoshop brochure templates" or "photoshop brochure psds" and you will find a bunch on Google. Then all you gotta do is go in and change the images, text, colors, logo to your own business. Thats the way I prefer to do it cause the brochures online look very nice and it saves me quite a bit of time.

What software are you using now? If you friend is going to print them, you can find ready-made templates that you just add content and images to so that you can personalise them, on the websites of some popular printers. I'm not from the US but if he doesnt have much to spend then thats a place to start.
If he is going to print lots and it needs to be really professional, then hiring a graphic designer on any of the freelancing sites but fiverr is the cheapest.

Thanks guys. Yeah I am writing out the price list right now and the mission statement/about me. I figure I would get over to Fiverr once that was done, but it needs to be done by tomorrow. Eh, I'll get it rocked out. I was trying to use my Google Docs

The older versions even 7 from 2002 are still pretty nice and easy to use but the problem is that anything before CS4 doesn't support opengl or take advantage of 64 bit processors.

Yo, do you want me to upload a working version of photoshop and some templates?

I'm moving all my data over to a new computer but deleted my old photoshop installation file. So I had to upload to airbridge from my VPS and can just give you the link. It would take 3-5 minutes to install and enter the serial number. Then I'll upload some templates and all you gotta do is go in and change a few images and the text.

Even if you don't know photoshop you can get still get the brochures done in like an hour. And they will look super professional.

Yep, you're right. I actually learned photoshop on version 7 and its still what I use till this day.

Like this week I had to move all my data over and lost my original installation file. So I went onto kat and saw Photoshop CC 14.2. I was like, "damn...this looks nice" lol. So I tried to install it and it crashed my entire system. Then I got pissed off, had to restart, said "fuck it" and went back to photoshop 7. Older versions are just too easy to install compared to newer versions. Just click the .exe, enter serial and your done.

In fact, I do this for a lot of software. I just don't like newer versions of anything cause the installation process is always harder. Like power director 9 I've been using for years. I know there's tons of newer versions but I just don't care. Same thing with Dragon Naturally speaking. The newer versions kept deleting my user profile so I went back to an older version.

I just have an aversion to new versions. Even with software I have paid licenses for, like FL Studio, it's a PITA to update. You're dealing with 90% 3rd party plugins/vsts and you have to reinstall every single one on the newer version. Then move all your old FLPs and templates over.

That's why I tend to stick with older versions.

Think about this: every design, website layout, shopping cart has been done before.
You simply need to purchase anyone else's design.
This is why I loathe those who make custom CMS when they can easily get by using any of joomla, WP, Drupal etc. Although using the popular CMS are still vulnerable to exploits and bugs, updating them is a lot easier than trying to figure out how to fix a hacked site with your own CMS when your client is screaming

And to those looking to make money - sort by best selling and rehash the top 5 templates into your own template. Some of the CMS templates & designs elements for sale on their make upwards of $100,000 if they are very good designs.

EDIT: fiverr is a wasteland, fake reviews, globally terrible work, even if you pay $40 for the gig, chances are they are using a graphic river template anyway. Also, you can send messages to the designers on graphic river and most of them do freelance hours.

What exactly is not lining up? The main trick for making brochure is column proportion, as long as they are exactly right and you have a decent sized (usually in the millimeters) line, then the folds should match up perfectly.

Heck, you can even use Microsoft Word. They have premade templates where you just plug in information.
