I'm looking for a featured slider plugin that's quite versatile in style. Needs to have auto animation and be customisable

Are you looking to feature posts or just random content?
I'm guessing it's Wordpress you're using.
I use http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/recent-posts-slider/ in a lot of my projects and it's never let me down.

Check out the Responsive KenBurner Slider.I have used it on my sites and its really cool.

This is a slideshow for images: google responsive slides viljamis. (sorry cant post links, just joined BHW).

Its a jQuery plugin, easy to use, many options for customization, supposed to work on all types of monitor sizes including smartphones. Its also cross-browser friendly.

I like to use a theme that has an integrated slider such as Graphene.

Went with Revolution Slider from Code canyon. Its awesome!!
