Hi guys,
Was just curious, as I wanted to start a blog and was thinking on starting one on Wix.com. some of there themes/package's look okay.
What do you all think?

I agree; don't use it. I have seen too many websites start out on Wix.com and it's OK, but it does not compare to hosting your own website and using WordPress. So eventually, when you get to the point where you want to migrate from Wix.com to self-hosted WordPress, its just a pain in the backside.

Better off if you can stretch to a cheap hosting plan and a domain, get yourself set up with a self-hosted WordPress website instead. You can still do that on a budget and its much easier to expand it further down the line.

wix is fairly limited, and by the time u realize it and u want to migrate to WordPress you will find that its impossible
 
It's an easy way to build a site and create a link. You don't have to mess with much.
I wouldn't dare use it for a money site.

Hi, If you want to start a self-hosted site for your blog. I would like to recommend using Bluehost instead of Wix. It's easy to install with one-click integration to your WordPress. The price to start with Bluehost super cheap and you will get a bonus free domain for one year. Really good choice for someone who wants to start their blogging journey.

I wouldn’t recommend it especially if you were testing it out for free. You do that and you’ll have a url with “youwebsite.wix.com” which looks terrible. As others have said, if you can afford it go with hosting your own site. Try to look for coupons , go to Retailmenot and look for host gator or blue host. Coupons are usually there. You can find decent free themes if you look for them too but you can also upgrade to a premium one at anytime or search the form if you’re nasty.:smirk:
 
anyone using Wix for web 2.0? how you guys progress, is Wix good for web 2.0?
i've seen someone post on different thread that his content got deleted, cause it contains a link.
 
Just checked it out a bot more, and lets just say it's like trying to push water up a hill.
