After reading the Four Hour Workweek for the first time, this was a dream of mine. Running an online business, working my own hours, having the freedom to go where I wanted when I wanted. Responsibilities kept me grounded. There's something about being able to come home every day to a little fuzz-monster and cook a nice meal for a wonderful spouse that blows constant travel out of the water (to me). Call me domesticated. I do try and get one stellar vacation in every year. I hope to amp that up to two a year at some point in the next few years.
My day job is relatively well distributed, although I have an office I go to three to four days a week. In a few years, my wife will be going for a fellowship somewhere (we are hoping Seattle, complete opposite corner of the country) for a year. I plan to go along with her while keeping my day job for one more year, working remote from wherever in the city I please. Consider it a digital nomad with roots.
