Anyone here got anger issues?

Sex, money and sleep will solve almost 99% of anger issues. Tested!

I've broke 2 laptops in half this year over IM related frustrations. I'd say it was 60% anger issues and 40% alcohol issues. I haven't really been angry much recently though.

I am working on meditation, but it's a really hard thing to do, it only sounds easy.

@t2van oh God, Look like I need to do more than martial arts. Thanks for your great input.

The thing is if you are a real "angry" person learning to walk away from it or trying to bring your self down / out of that high is hard as well does not matter how much meditation or sex you do. They can't help you in that moment.

What you need to do is make up a word document (I can set up a template if you need) and print off 50 copies to start.

But you need to have a set of numbers 1 - 10

And a few comment boxes and the way it works is this:

Once you calm the fuck down you answer the first question:

How angry was you 1 - 10

What triggered the outburst (write in a box)

What did you do while angry (write in a box)

How do you feel now (write in a box)

How angry are you now 1 - 10

Now I had books of these and I used to hate filling them in in fact most of the time it would trigger me back off just writing about why I got pissed off. BUT it did help me start to see the price of my actions. MY biggest problem while raging is I could never calm down till I hit or break something and if it never broke or scratched that itch I would keep going - I once smashed up a TV, PS4, two laptops and a phone. The outburst cost me £5,000+. Stupid as fuck.

But if you can work out a pattern as to what you are doing you can work on things to combat it (at least that's what I'm still trying to learn in my sessions - although my wife hugging me works the best) when raging I just need to try and focus and walk off and shout. BUT more importantly I can now see or feel an outburst coming and I just have to STOP. Get up and walk off. Or just do something else. Sit, have a tea, smoke, talk or shout.

No doubt you are a stubborn fucker so once something does not work you keep chipping away at it till it does, anger kicks in you vent and it all goes wrong. If thats the case you need to try and learn to spot your triggers or when you are going to get fucked off - which is hard as hell and then STOP.

The biggest thing is to talk. So drop me a PM if you want. You don't even have to send it. Sometimes just writing down and reading back to your issues can be a real eye opener and can bring a tear to your eye. Sometimes that's all it can take to help you getting on the right path. Don't know where you live either but counseling in the UK starts from £25p.h you only need 30-60min - some will do the first session free. Be prepared to shop around though as I don't like talking to men, and some women are total c**ts so its about finding the right person.

There are help lines and charities as well which can point you in the direction of a free local group. You don't have to talk the first session or two, you have to introduce your self. But sharing and listing is part of it. Like I said for me group stuff didn't work as the people there used to annoy and trigger me off no end.

I took a course on cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). They recommend meditation, finding out your triggers -- what gets you mad and why, recognizing what you do is wrong when you are angry, trying to make amends for what you do while angry.

Second, just because you are angry sometimes, it doesn't mean you have anger issues. Anger is a normal human emotion. How you deal with anger/stress when you feel it is what causes issues. When you're angry and take a walk, that's a positive way to deal with it. If you're angry and yell at everyone, maybe you need to work on finding something to do to calm you down.

Realizing there are appropriate times to be angry is another issue. The problem many people face is acting aggressive while angry. You should shoot for assertive behavior to resolve the issue.
