Hey guys, so yeah having problems.

I'm extremely ambitious and want to achieve so much, but I am a complete slave to procrastination. It's so bad that I don't even start working, I'll procrastinate until the end of the day and then promise myself I'm going to begin in the morning. I guess a part of it is just getting distracted but the biggest problem I'm having is fear of failure.

I remember when I was rather unfit and wanted to get in shape, it took me about a year of putting it off until I joined a fitness forum and then the motivation seemed to come out of nowhere and I was able to achieve my goals. I guess that's what I'm hoping will happen by posting on this forum too.

So what I wanted to know is, has anyone here beaten procrastination, or the fear of failure, and is able to put it in hours and hours day after day of work? How did you manage to do it? Was it a long process? How do you feel now that you've overcome this depressing hurdle?

Any tips or advice you're able to give is much appreciated.

Have you been putting off making your first post for a whole year?

You really do suffer from procrastination don't you?

I feel ya on that one, I am also A victim of it as well, but when I do beat it the undesirable/overwhelming tasks I have been trying to avoid I get better at doing it once i knuckle down and actually do it, my biggest fear is failure as well, as well as mind numbing tasks like hand spinning content.
I think its a process you have to just face it.
Im still working my way through it but I have taken action by setting daily goals of what i want to get done with in a day, lets just say i am easing my self into the set routine tasks i need to do and its working to say the least.

I think the only advice i would offer is
    Set manageable goals
Dont get distracted by youtube or social media.
Get into a daily routine with a to do list which you MUST do, you have to get motivated for this.

    Hope that helps

I might have said this before but you need to train your self by having a to do list. Now 95% of what I write down gets done no matter what. Do it and see what happens. Start with small goals. Ex. Clean car etc.

Although I certainly can't speak for all, I would say that most have had problems with procrastination at one point or another. The trick is to truly decide what your priorities in life are act accordingly. aka, although Candy Crush may be fun, will attaining level 200 gain anything for you or your family? If the answer is no, then why spend hour upon hour playing it? Sure, I took some time off to watch the Olympics because it is something I very much enjoy, but I also kept myself focus on writing the paper I needed to complete for a class I'm wrapping up.

The more important you consider some task in your life, the more you will push other less important tasks out of the way and get it done. Also, consider that some people say that they want to succeed but their actions show that they truly aren't motivated to do it. You will beat the procrastination when you truly decide that it's time to get serious about your business.

    Good luck!

I find it hard to believe how anyone can actually care about others opinions about them. At the end of the day, you live your own life, it has nothing to do with anyone. Once you wake up to the truth that it is your life, you may stop being able to give a fuck about others opinions. And the sad point about others opinions is the fact that they are their own deluded opinions that have no logical basis.

Procrastination is a thief of time.
Perhaps you will benefit from productivity coaching.
Delaying urgent tasks for pleasure won't do you any good.
If a large task overwhelm you, break it down in smaller manageable pieces.
You'll feel better if you achieve something at the end of the day.
Use Toggl to help you focus on what you're doing.

    My two cents..

You have to stop being reactive and start being proactive.
You need to stop doing reactive things like checking your phone or emails first thing in the morning.
You need to do the big chunk things first. Dont do the little things first then the big thing.
Make a list of things you want to get done every night before you go to bed. The next day start on that list instead of doing reactive things like checking emails or whatever. Things that lead to procrastination.

Ambition & achievement is really only measured in what you achieve, in terms of hours worked, products sold, ideas implemented etc.

If you are a slave to procrastination, then there is no way you can be ambitious. You can't be both, if you want to move forward.

You only need to work all day tomorrow, and then you can say you didn't procrastinate. Get 1 day under your belt first.

If you are so lazy don't work at home. get your laptop and go to a mall, library or somewhere where you can work even if there are distractions it won't be as bad as at home, in your pijama, where you eat, sleep and watch shows and do all the fun stuff.

Get out of your confort zone literaly.

    good luck

True. Right down and make it clear what you gotta do today. I have over 50 pages written down on how I am gonna achieve my new year resolution. Did it last year, doing it again. Procrastination ain't got nothin' on me.

1.make a list of all the things you need to do, big or small
2.then pick the one thats the most important that needs to be done first (if your goal is to catch a fish,, then buy a fishing pole goes first,,and get money to buy fishing pole goes before that,,and get a job comes before that,, and get a haircut and write a resume comes before that)
3.then put all your focus to get the top thing crossed off your list,, dont waste time with other things on the list until the top one is complete. It may not be the funnest one to do , infact it may be the last one you want to do but you have to do it!
IF YOU GET STUCK OR CANT GET STARTED THEN START WITH SOME SMALL THINGS LIKE PUT AWAY YOUR CLOTHES, OR DO THE DISHES....THEN YOU WILL GET SOME MOOMENTUM AND ANFTER YOU DO THE DISHES THEN IMMEDIATELY TACKLE WHATS 1 ON THE LIST....A LITTLE MOMENTUM GOES A LONG WAY for example with your weightloss. REMEBER GET ORGANIZED AND STAY ORGANIZED,, being messy is bad for fighting procrastination.
    and, just do it!

also you need to actually write a list dont just make a list in your head,, the magic only happens when you actually write it down. so first on your list should be "make a list" ,, now write a list ,, now cross off make a list ,,,, there you did something, doesn't it feel great! now hurry before you loose momentum and get to the next thing on your list!
