I would like to put together a team of outsourced workers but have no idea where to start.. just looking for one at the moment and more than likely for offpage work but I'm not even sure what to start with. Can anyone with experience give me any advice?

Place a thread in hire freelancer section or get members from odesk or elance. Managing Va's is a tough work though. Plan before itself to avoid delays.

I would suggest to hire Virtual Assistance on trial basis. Monitor then for a week or so that you can come to know about their work capability and time management including regularity. If you satisfied with their trial work, you can hire them for long tern project.

Next point is that they should keep them on update. While collecting new sources of links, because they may cheat you by using same sources for several times to get the links.

    Look before you leap...

Scrapebox is really the swiss army knife of the Black hatter.. Also SENuke and Xcrumer although SB just plays in a different league in terms of features, usage and price. It is equivalent to having 50 employees working for you (hmm.. ok, that's a bit of an extravangant claim.. but still kind of)

    - Identify exactly what tasks need done, then document the steps to do each one.
    - Do those tasks and time how long it takes you to do them, making note of this for later comparing against the VA's work.
    - Create a shared doc (Google Docs/Dropbox or whatever works) where all effort is logged, including start date/time, end date/time and who completed the work.
    - Either use oDesk for tracking activities and effort vs billable hours, or fire up team viewer (or similar) on a VPS, have them login to it to do all their work, and monitor their activities.
    - Monitor and feedback tightly for the first few days, or week, depending on complexity of the tasks and output you are witnessing.

There are a lot of good candidates on oDesk, but plan on spending a few hours to do the initial ad and screening, then hiring 7 and firing 6 for every 1 good worker you choose to keep.

I don't, I'm the all-in-one man, doing every single thing, alone!

Fuck yeah, hiring SEO team doesnt suit my revenue yet, but really want to get one so I can
focus on developing more projects while the others can be left (set without forget)
