Anyone have luck using flyers?

I was actually just thinking of this and would be curious to see any responses. Having something like a flashy leaflet with a url leading to a money site.

From research I know companies offer door to door campaigns including the printing at about $500~$750 for 10'000 flyers..

I passed out 1000 flyers promoting a CPA payday loan from Peerfly. The campaign was a total failure, I don't think I even generated a click. Good luck.

I saw a post a while back about a guy who used flyers with QR codes to promote a gambling site and he said he made bank, but I've never actually tried it. I think you need something REALLY appealing in order to get someone to not only hold on to a flyer until they get to a computer, but to then also type in the url. I haven't had the balls to waste the $12 to print up 500 test flyers.

I've always considered this.

I run a basketball website. I thought about going down to the local stadium and sticking flyers on everyones windscreen....maybe one day ay

Flyers are a very profitable marketing stradegy. Its all about what you have to offer and where you place them. Location, location, location. The best way to do it, I would say, create pull off tab flyers and place them at laundry mats, walmart bulletin boards, and as I seen someone else say, pubs. :D

This depends. What is the size of your flyer/type of paper/color? What do you want the flyer to do? Who is your market and what do you want to say?

Generally speaking, you don't want to sell but to create curiosity and do your call to action. Have a compelling head.

People throw that stuff away. No one's going to take it home and type in your URL, unless you're offering something amazing and legit-looking.

agree that nobody will go home and type in a url. as said already I'd be using the QR codes or a phone number. something that can be actioned immediately.

Flyers is ALL about target market...
If you just randomly hand out, your conversion is going to be like 1%
Find out where to put your flyers and your conversion rates should be decent

Not personally but I have some friends with a website business that did this and I was in their office when someone came in and mentioned they got a leaflet so it does work.

It really all depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I did a 'flyer' campaign for a local website I was promoting a couple years back. I used 'dropcards' that looked like a folded $20 bill. When picked up and opened it just contained the site's url and a quick message.

I paid a few people to drop these at bars throughout the area on busy nights over the course of a couple months. The website in question was quite racy and had a word of mouth quality to it, so in this instance flyers brought enough traffic to jump-start the website and get it going.

However I have also attempted to promote CPA using flyers for a Gas Card offer and had the flyers strategically posted on gas pumps and got next to no response.

In the end it is all about what you are trying to do. In my experience, flyers work for promoting a name or giving information, however they do a pretty crappy job of 'selling' people.

I'm going to second the QR code thing. Make it as easy as possible for people to get to your offer. People aren't going to make the effort to go to your url from some flyer they didn't even ask for unless it's super easy or your giving away free $100 bills or something. Location is still a factor though.

i do this, wont say what niche, but you can hire cute female students off CL for like $10 an hour , alot more people pay attention when a cute girl is involved.

Yes, I had paid some local college kids to pass "Free Wal-Mart" giftcard flyers out at a Wal-Mart. Very good conversion ratios and I first sent them to a newsletter to collect e-mails to send them more offers :) It works!

Only try this is you're targeting a specific type of person, and plan on placing the flyer in a specific, targeted area. Randomly placing flyers everywhere won't convert well.
