Anyone have any tips for making an effective landing page?

So I've found an offer I'd like to promote that has to do with making money online / taking surveys / PPS etc. It should be very easy to push the product itself, I have payment proof & plenty of content to choose from. My question is how do I create the most effective landing page?

I was thinking of creating a video possibly explaining it all briefly, with payment proofs and such... but do people stick around for videos on landing pages? I feel like I might actually lose traffic with that strategy. Also, what is a good way to collect emails as well for building an email list. Is it best to have it in text with picture proof/gif proofs? or is it better to have someone speaking in a youtube format video for say 5 minutes.

Think in terms of funnels not landing page.
They all got landing page and a thank you page at the minimum.
Collect email - it's an optin funnel.
Sell - its a sales funnel.
Use servey - its a sales funnel.
High ticket - its a webinar funnel.
There are few more like trip wire, video sales funnel.
Which is optional? It depends mostly on offer, your budget and traffic source.

This is a bit out of the box thinking but I like to go to codecanyon.net, search for "landing page", and then look through the results - you can get some good ideas doing this.
