Anyone got an abuse email from namecheap?

Got this in the email right now:

Hello,

We received copyright infringement notice for your xyzdomain.com domain. Please review the notice quoted below and take necessary actions to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Thank you.

And then they quote an email they received from a trademark holder.

I don't care about this domain, however I do need to use it during this weekend. Does anybody have any experience with Namecheap in these situations?
Wouldn't mind if they lock or teminate that domain, but I sure wouldn't like to get my whole account locked.

Best to follow what they say, things like this always happens to me. Sucks I know.
 
They don't say anything, just "resolve the issue as soon as possible". That's why I am wondering if anyone here has had this happen to them before since I would like to keep this domain live at least until monday
 
A little while back I filed an complaint with namecheap in an attempt to get a site to take down some infringing content. Namecheap's reply to me stated that they had given the offending customer 5 days to comply (so I bet they told your trademark holder the same thing). Can't see why you wouldn't be fine for a few days, especially since its a weekend.
 
Yeah, that's what I was counting on, they will probably only work a few hours tomorrow and then take off for the weekend.

hehe... yeah, I am doing what you think I'm doing

I get emails from them every event and I always just suspend the site on Monday. Never had a problem and enjoyed the the traffic meanwhile.

Zufa can kiss my ass since I live outside the US, the only thing that concerns me is that this is the first time that Namecheap directly contacts me.
 
Copyright infringement is beyond the realm of Namecheap. They should _only_ interfere when faced with a lawsuit for the domain name OR an UDRP process against you. In those cases they will lock your domain name. Namecheap is in no position to judge wether or not you infringe on someone's copyright, and even if you did it's for the courts to decide what should happen: not to namecheap. Tell them to shove it.
 
Yeah, after doing some research it seems the worst thing that can happen is that namecheap locks the domain, and they do that only if they are threatened with a lawsuit or something like that.

So as I said, ZUffa can kiss my butt, and I am ready for the UFC event tomorrow!!

are they after you over the domain name, content or both? if you are planning to comply with the notice...

maybe wait until the last minute and ask what content is infringing so you may resolve the problem. be sure to add contact business hours at the bottom that will allow you to operate until after the time you need ;)
 
nooooooo...... I have covered my tracks very well, last thing I would do is make an ass of myself and actually contact them! :D

Once the event is over traffic dies and the site is just garbage, so I really don't care about the domain or site, I'll just take it offline on Monday. Always do that and they never bother me again.

I wasn't concerned about Zuffa, I was just worried about namecheap, but it seems everything is fine
 
ive read of some cases where copyright holders will fight (and usually win) to get the domain away from the person. its ********ing stupid
 
Why is it stupid? They are just protecting their trademark, nothing stupid about that.
 
I always go with GoDaddy really, and use creative domain names.. never had a problem with them, other than when I got a SSL cert from namecheap, that was a PAIN to setup...
 
Godaddy must be one of the worst registrars out there, if not the worst
