I am moving to Bologna in March, from living half and half in Norway and CA.

I need an apartment, any suggestions to where I could look? I want to rent one, with a limit of about 1000? month. Is it common that apartments are furnished? With electricity included in the price etc.?

Anyone from Bologna in here?

I'm not living in Italy anymore but stayed there for 15 years.

For how long do you rest? If you want to rent the apartment by yourself it's gonna be hard to do it the right way, because in Italy do you need italian ID's for the rent and utilities contracts.

Most of the apartments (like 90% or so) are not furnished and do you have to make the electricity and other contracts by yourself. I suggest you to start looking on classified ads websites and see if you can find something that suits your needs.

Also, note that you will need to pay 3 to 5 months (value of the monthly rent) as warranty (you'll get the money back when you leave).

I've tried googling a bit, to find info on how everything is organized (with electricity and utility bills etc.), but can't find much ... Maybe it's a good niche, full of untapped KWs? ;)

I have a Norwegian Citizenship, and will be able to get an Italian ID card once I go there as far as I know. My gf is fro CA though, so it's a bit harder for her. Deposit for the rent is no problem.

However, I don't speak Italian .. I can read some of it, but it is hard when people speak (something I have to work on ;) ). The ad is easy enough to translate.

I've tried to call them a few times, but it goes to voice mail and I can't understand what it says ... Not sure if it is closed during the holidays or something. Also tried to email them, in English, but haven't received any answers.

I'll PayPal 10$ to someone who can help me with this.
 
I speak Italian. What do you need help with? I can only call the US and Canada on my cellphone, but I can send my cousins in Italy a fb message or skype with them if you need them to ask something for you.
 
I just had a thought. I think GiorgioB lives in Italy. PM him and ask his advice.

My main problem is that I can't understand Italian, so when I call them and it goes to voice mail, I have no idea if they are closed for the holidays. My lease her in Norway is done after January, and I am hoping to get a place before that so I don't have to find some temp solution here.

When I lived in Barecelona there were several sites like this one key2bcn.com/rentals, with English speaking staff and good pics of the places. Made it really easy to find a place ... but I can't really find one in Bologna or Milan. It seems like the market for rentals is not as big as in Spain, as most Italians own their own homes (compared to Spain).

Hi man. I live in in Italy (currently out of country for holidays) and I just called the number of the ad that you posted and it seems that the voice mail is answering. I think they are off for vacation and that's why they don't answer. You could try leave a voice message with something like "Hello, I am from "your country" and I am interested in your apartment. Call me on "+1212312312312" or try to call them in 2-3 days. If you still need help, I will return to Italy at 6 January. I'm living near Milan (15 km away).

Thanks man! Now we are living in Barcelona though, change of plans with my gfs studies, so we ended up here. :)
