Been slapped by google over the past week and a half. Still get 200 or so visits again from bookmarks/direct traffic. It does not convert at all however. Anyone find the same thing?

This is basically trash traffic, they click on your link just out of curiosity. You can try to convert it into useful traffic with a good lander but in most cases it's better not to bother with it.

yup. so true. but it still depends on your niche. 1 of my amazon affiliate site that was slapped by google 2 months ago still constantly receives ~100 UV daily from pinterest. and converts to 1 or 2 purchases from amazon.

The only way that traffic can convert is if the page they come from is getting good SE traffic. Otherwise I totally agree.

You said you got slapped by google then why are you saying that "Search Engine" traffic is converting.

What was your conversion rate before the slap.

Why dont you guys think like the fish and not the fisherman???

Seriously, I think it is quite obvious that redirected traffic will NEVER convert as well as SE traffic...

Think about it, you go on google, you want to buy a sports bag, you type "buy sports bag", you check the links relevant and thats it.

Now imagine you are checking some pinterest account with images about football, then you see a link which says "get your sports bags here".

YEs, it is relevant, yes you might have interest, but while searching on pinterest you are simply browsing pictures with no specific aim, meantime while you are typing a kw on google you are loooking for something very specific...
