Anyone experiment with 1.usa.gov? I'm experimenting with it.

Anyone try working this? 1.usa.gov, .gov url shortener. It shortens any .gov links. I'm trying it in conjunction with another technique. Anyone know yet if it passes gov link power? There's a few others too like fcc.us. Bit.ly is tied in with it and auto-converts gov links to use the appropriate gov url shortener. I found it quite funny that there is a small article on usa.gov about link building for gov't worker bees that _almost_ advocates BH techniques.

I'm going to wait a few days and see what effect this has on ranking. Just curious is anyone else has tried this method and seen results.

Ok, so what I've been doing with this is using the .gov link shorteners to create a link to .gov external link pages, in order to get them spidered as static pages.

So for instance, you construct a link like this:


Then use 1.usa.gov to create a shortlink to it. Then, backlink the 1.usa.gov shortlink.

Bit.ly has agreements with various gov't sites, so if you paste the links into bit.ly it auto-shortens it using whichever government link shortener applies (there's a few of them).

Its only been a little over a week, but I did move up 23 positions in the SERPs on the site I tested this on, the only 2 things I did was create these and optimize my site's page load time, so I can't say for certain whether this method was responsible for my jumping in rank (there was also the Panda update in the last week too) vs. page load time.

This is very interesting. I would like to hear some gurus on this.
