Anyone else seeing major ranking/traffic fluctuations since Aug 1st?

Hey guys, since August 1st I've noticed some pretty significant fluctuations in both rankings and organic traffic across a few of my sites/projects. Some pages jumped up noticeably, others dropped hard, with no clear pattern in terms of niche or site age that I can tell.

A few things I've checked so far: no manual actions in Search Console, no recent major on-page or technical changes on my end, Core Web Vitals look stable, and my backlink profile hasn't changed dramatically.

Curious if this lines up with a known Google core or spam update, or if others are seeing similar volatility around the same timeframe. Would appreciate hearing whether you're seeing gains or drops, what niche or site type you're in broadly, and any theories on what triggered it. Trying to figure out if this is industry-wide or something specific to my setup. Thanks!

It does line up with the updates.

From my experience, they do not actually start when they announce them.

There is around 2 weeks foreplay phase, official release and then 2 weeks post-release phase to fix any messes.

That timeline actually explains a lot, the volatility started before I saw any official announcement so that lines up. Good to know it's not just my sites acting weird for no reason. Guess the move is to just sit tight and not panic-change anything until the post-release phase settles, unless you've found something actually worth doing during that window instead of just waiting it out.

Yeah your websites aren't the only ones who got affected. A lot of other people/websites got affected as well, so you're definitely going crazy xD.
 
Yours is a few of your sites..... this update did not spare anyone. I had to reaudit my entire sites thinking I made an unnecessary error somewhere.

me too. I've even seen random movement in areas that have not been changed in quite some time. It is best just to stick around nd learn more than to make any large-scale modifications at this point.

and so it is with me there are times when my pages move without my editing anything on the web site at all. any time that happens I alway give it time to settle before I do any analysis.
 
Definitely seeing similar volatility here since August 1st across a few properties too. Rankings are dancing around with no obvious trigger, so it definitely looks like an unconfirmed rollout or core update.
 
There's a problem. I published two articles on Tuesday and Wednesday and submitted them to GSC, but they're not being indexed. What's going on? Normally, my submissions take at least 12 hours and at most 2 hours, but now it's been over 48 hours.
 
I have been but it's not been negative to be fair, it's been talked about in a few threads here the past couple of weeks and there was a number of confirmed (by Google) updates in August, so yeah.
 
give it another week for the rollout to fully settle before drawing conclusions or making changes.

I personally always wait for it to pass.
