Been watching the Lounge this week and it is routine season again. Morning routines. Night routines. New year energy everywhere.
Lowkey funny because most of those routines disappear once real life kicks in. Work spikes. Family stuff. Random stress. The routine dies quietly.
I tried the discipline route for years. Alarms. Trackers. Streaks. Always worked for a bit. Then one bad week nuked the whole thing.
What stuck for me was not habits. It was defaults. Stuff that happens whether I feel sharp or cooked. If I miss a day nothing breaks. If I miss a week nothing collapses.
Some people thrive on structure though. They need the ritual. Others run better with loose rules + safety nets. Same goal. Totally different wiring.
Feels like half the frustration around productivity comes from forcing a system that does not match how your brain actually works.
The people who last usually stop copying routines and start building around their own inconsistency.
