Anyone driving for uber?

Well it is good if you got a nice car and a good plan. I don't think most of you have a good plan, rather just a nice transportation device. Since it seems to be the normal to struggle on here for ideas let's just go ahead and open this for discussion. Uber can be milked hard core, you just need to have the right tools. First let's look on it from your perspective.

Are there a lot of cab companies in your area? If so then Uber or Lyft are going to be making you profitable.
How many bars, airports, hotels, restaurants, etc in your area? Can you at least leave your business card with them, cut them deals, etc? Make it worth their while to call you to take care of their customers.
Are you even attempting to leave your cab fairs with a business card or some other form of contact for them to get in touch with you? Closing direct leads in going to make you more profitable than ever.
What about your car? Is it going to be at least a newer car? Gas saver or guzzler? I find that if you do Uber or Lyft you might want to beat them with a better car, one that can handle large amounts of transportation. Also you might want to think about your customers ride experiences. You don't have to put a fucking ps4 in the back and shit, you just need to make sure your seats are comfortable and your air conditioning or heating is viable for their comfort. Also try to engage the customers, if they are defensive or shy you can just trail off your engagement but always want to actually help the customer by being sincere. Yes, don't treat them like gods, but still at least be authentically trying to help them get from point a to point b, not just driving. It's called sales talk, learn it.

Also, why does the Uber thing matter? You can make 100% better customer experience than these automated cars. If you have no personality then you have no business bartending or driving cabs for money and tips. Sorry, just go grab a book really quick on sales psychology, try what it says, and you'll see a difference. If not, repeat until you do see a difference because you did something wrong.

I am not disagreeing that it can make money, it's just that it's not really worth the effort for the amount you can make. Actually, this does make me kind of glad I opened this discussion, because it seems to be a pretty interesting topic even if people aren't driving for them. That said, you have some points and I have thought of ways to make it more profitable.

The problem with what you're suggesting is that it defeats the purpose of Uber, which is convenience.

  • Giving away business cards to rack up business won't help because when people need an Uber you might not even get the ping - someone who is closer to the request will pick it up first. Not to mention, if you do get "preferred" and contacted through another method you have no way of knowing whether it's worthwhile to drive to their location. That said, if you find someone nearby who takes a regular trip to a worthwhile destination, it might be worth it, this has occurred to me while driving earlier today.
  • Getting leads to a potential product or service is a crap shoot, the chances of landing some qualified lead who might be interested in something you could sell them is slim to none. Of course, having a bunch of different things on offer could eliminate this problem, but then you also typically have turds who travel like 2kms and "earn" you a whopping $3-$5 which isn't enough time to lay down some sales game, which I am pretty good at. And that's exactly why I don't offer fuck all like mints or water, people can get that themselves. I still get 5 star ratings because most people aren't cunts during the day, and I'm sure they're not expecting that for the little shit types they take.
  • Using surge as I suggested is the only viable method so far I can think of that makes it just worthwhile for the driver. But typically these surges only apply on Fridays/Saturdays where there is demand for drunken dumbasses to get back to their apartments... which also means you have to deal with rude people messing with your ride and potential vomit/shit/piss/aggression all up in your personal space.

Perhaps if there was a way to set up some type of fake GPS referral system to manipulate surges that would be awesome lol. Bring a bit of blackhat to this bullshit.

Like I said, IM is far more profitable and it continues to grow exponentially. Slowly but surely. As for Uber, it was more about curiosity than anything else, and for the bonus for me and my bro. Sure, Uber might be worth 70 billion right now, but "tech" companies can fuck themselves very quickly, especially because they're in the middle of many different lawsuits regarding their legality everywhere they go, consumer pricing issues, drivers becoming increasingly agitated by the price cuts.

Is that "more" for you Sherbert? Why don't you tell me more about how you think this is viable for a company like Uber? Tell me more.

Holy eff.

1) IM is NOT far more profitable than a $70 billion startup. I'm speaking simply in terms of the payout for the creators of the company, not its employees. Nothing lasts forever. If you think any of the shitty methods you're building up now are going to be viable in ten years, you're fuckin' retarded.

2) You said IM is growing exponentially. Maybe total dollars paid out, but definitely not payout per person. No fucking way. Where are you getting these numbers from, your ass?

3) You said IM is growing exponentially. Then you said slowly but surely. It doesn't work like that.

4) You are looking at this still from the perspective of one driver who has been driving for just a few days in order to cash out on a bonus, on the viewpoint of a multibillion dollar corporation.

Plenty of Uber drivers make a shitload of money. Want to know one of the biggest secrets in online reviews? Ready? You sure?

The majority of the people who are going to divulge their opinion on a product, company, or service online, are going to do so in a negative way. Everyone thinks the Internet is their soapbox. Case in point, this thread.

Think about that as you jerk off into your little PBN.

Dont know why youre getting your panties in a twist, and I didn't say anywhere that I am trying to compete with a fucking billionaire company you twit! What I was suggesting was only for me personally. Yeah, it grows week over week and I make more money for less effort in IM.

Are you one of those dicks thats promotes this shit in youtube and plugs their "referral" code everywhere? Hahahaha
