Anyone Doing FB Read this. Important news about Pages

This has been around for some time but only recently has FB defaulted the option onto every account.

Basically, if you have noticed a recent drop in traffic from your internals, its because of this new feature being added.

So go to your news feed, refresh the page, hit END and you will go to the bottom of the page, FB will use its ajax to pull up another load more news, hit END again and this time it will go to the end of the page and no more data will load.

You will see an option to "edit options" - Click it. This will load a popup window with some options in it.

The first option which will be selected is "Show posts from: Friends and pages you interact with the most"

The second option is "Show posts from: All of your friends and pages"

Now the majority of FB users are not even smart enough to figure this out, so that means a lot of eyes are not seeing your posts. It also means that those who have found this and set it to see everything will be the type to X your page individually as soon as they see junk in their feed from your page.

Just a heads up before you start spending loads of money on buying pages.

Honestly I don't personally find this surprising, and for the serious successful FB marketers this doesn't really have a large impact. Why?

Basically, there are pages out there that have 10k fans that I would pay much more for than a page of similar interest with 100k fans.

Why? Because of response, interactivity and general fan interest.

Facebook is doing me a favor almost by weeding out the uninterested, and making particular fanpages more targeted!

I almost would expect to see a blackhat type of software that would do a similar type of function... obviously it would still hit the news feeds of every fan, but you get the idea.

We all blast links to any available traffic possible, but this may help put perspective on true worth of fanpages... there are multiple threads per day on here (actually the majority of threads in this subforum now!) that are "new members" trying to find approximate worth of fanpages.

This can help us find pages that are mostly just fake fans, non-responsive fans (like those obtained from twiends, FL.com and other sites) and the only real compromise is the amount of clicks you may get from having an update hit a few unresponsive users news feeds.

Typically, real users will have a friend that will pass on the link to their user feed anyways.

If anything, this will teach those asking ridiculous prices for fanpages with no substance, that, just because a fanpage is large it doesn't mean it's worth a ton of $$$

And...

...more importantly this hopefully will teach those with large fanpages to keep their fans more interactive, responsive, and interested in the page... which will benefit both FB, the user, and us marketers.

Totally agree.
People are just looking for pages with more than 100(s)K even if they have only 500 active users. This is the wrong way to promote any product or services.
Immagine you have a shop somewhere, you have more than 100.000 deaf mute people using the same street, how can you enjoy them? noway.
You prefer to get only 10.000 that can be active and participate to your page by liking it or commenting posts.
So, actually facebook is providing real marketers great service to get real targeted people who shows interest tou your page. You will not lose active people because they already participate in your page by comments and likes.
we can always see the full half of the cup and forget about the empty part.

i now see this damn change as a problem with simply posting status updates to all of your friends, and thats what sucks. because Fuggz explained it nicely, if people are actually interested in your fan page they will obviously want to keep seeing your status updates. but, with that being said, this is a problem for non fan page FB marketers who send out links to their friends by using status updates.
