Yes, you can just search for "classic editor" a bunch of free Wordpress plug ins will come up, then download and activate one, this brings the classic editor back.

Tried it and hated it. I'm not too technical so I can't speak about that but for me it was very laggy and took too many clicks to do basic things. I couldn't find the quick tags for blockquotes and other things like you have on the classic HTML editor. Granted this was a few months ago so they might have updated it but what I really hated was that they give you this tiny 600 pixel area for content - I like things WIDE, my girls and my text areas.

I am a bit disappointed yes, but just learn to get used to it. It won't take long and theres nothing you can do about changing it.

Actually, I found it much more productive to work with. No distractions, just you and the "paper".

I install Disable Gutenberg and it's all good for me. Could move to the WP fork ClassicPress, although I'm giving them a year first to see how the project goes.

What were they thinking with this skinny little text area LOL I guess they're more concerned about mobile but this is just silly for us with big monitors.

gutenburg is terrible and broke several sites. The old editor plugin is now one of the top plugins.

I think I will go back to old editwe for now. I have problems when adding links and there are few other problems like where is the word count ?

New update sucks too much. I'm tired of it. I want to move to older version but don't know how..

I think it will be developed to normal conditions finally, but don't know, how much time that will take. For my projects I decided not to move to 5.0.x wordpress for some time. But new wordpress is better for blogs with big audiance, it's much faster.
